Moroni Johnson, a member of a polygamist cult led by Samuel Bateman, has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to his role in a conspiracy to transport girls across state lines for sex. I live in Idaho…just a few hours north of Salt Lake City…and this area is absolutely infested with LDS cult members. We also have our resident FLDS cult members, who live in a huge house on the outskirts of town. We occasionally see some of the women around town in their "prairie dresses," but since they also have their own farm, cow pastures, and vegetable gardens out on their property…we don't see them very often. The FLDS women are very much isolated, even from the other LDS cult members.

Let me be clear – the ONLY reason that the mormon church gave up polygamy – was because the Feds would not allow the territory to achieve statehood while bigomy/polygamy was supported by the government which was made up of the church and still is. This is why there are the (in)famous escape tunnels the polygamists would use that still exist under downtown salt lake – some of them repurposed for various government needs. Polygamy is still – to this day – supported by the church – they only gave it up for satisfying statehood technicalities – that's it.

I've never been in the Mormon church but I know someone who was a drug addict and she decided to try to join, they allow her to become a member but because CPS kept taking her kids, they told her that if she didn't get her tubes tied, she could not stay a member of the church…I'm so glad they did that, they said we will not love and keep you, if you keep having, harming and losing custody of children. I loved that so much! Cause you always hear that they don't believe in things like that. I was amazed by that, saved more kids from her horrible parenting.
