On February 16, Brittany Ligdis, a 30-year-old nursing student, sought refuge in the laundry room of her apartment with her four-year-old son. According to the Pinole Police Department, Ligdis was hiding from her ex-boyfriend, Jeffrey Kendall, who had broken into her home. Tragically, police report that Kendall found Ligdis and their son in the laundry room, where he allegedly shot Ligdis in the head before fleeing the scene. The couple’s young child witnessed this horrific act of violence.

Later that evening, California state troopers successfully apprehended Kendall.
