The nation’s only high school focused on the integration of cyber technology and engineering received its latest large-scale financial donation. At an on-campus event Monday, Corvid Technologies, a Huntsville-based engineering solutions provider, presented the school with a check for $100,000.
The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering is a public, commuter and residential magnet high school serving students throughout Alabama and tuition is free.
“Corvid Technologies’ support amplifies ASCTE’s mission and highlights the critical importance of industry collaboration in shaping tomorrow’s innovators,” said PeggyLee Wright, president of the ASCTE Foundation. “This donation ensures our students are prepared to lead and transform their industries.”
Peter Woods, founder and general manager of Corvid Technologies, explained why his company opted to make the significant contribution.
“So for us, our company started our office here in Huntsville back in 2010,” said Woods. “At the time, it was just me, one person. We’ve now grown up to 110 people locally, which is fantastic. It’s been a great environment. This is a way for us to kind of give back to the community that has provided so much for us.
“It aligns really well with our values of who we are as a company. We’re an engineering services firm specializing in physics-based modeling. This is a way to kind of help educate the next generation.”

He said Huntsville is the perfect place to establish a pathway for students to succeed in science and engineering-related fields.
“You need, as a community, as an industry base, you need to have that pipeline of students coming up through and getting the right education to be able to address the problems of the future,” Woods said. “So this particular school is very well structured to provide that pipeline. With all of those engineers and scientists coming into this community, they have children and those children go to school.
“This offers that opportunity to those children to get the education required as they kind of begin to find their path.”
The school announced the news and thanked the company on social media following the event.
