In what should be a fantastic ACC battle, Syracuse hosts Virginia Tech at the Dome on Saturday.
Both teams enter the weekend with five wins and an eye on the Playoff. However, it’s Virginia Tech that comes in with the most momentum.
The Hokies have won three straight games against formidable opponents Stanford, Boston College and Georgia Tech. Two of their three losses this season came against Rutgers and Miami, the latter of which was a 38-34 barnburner.
Running back Bhayshul Tuten has been dominant for Virginia Tech, turning 142 carries into 951 yards and 12 touchdowns. Kyron Drones has also been great under center, passing for 10 TDs and running for six more.
The Hokies will have their hands full with Syracuse, though. QB Kyle McCord and the Orange sit at 5-2 with big wins over Ohio and Georgia Tech. They’ve faltered a bit over the past five weeks, however, falling to Stanford and then losing badly to Pitt, 41-13, last weekend.
When these teams met in Virginia last year, when Virginia Tech routed the Orange, 38-10. Syracuse leads the all-time rivalry 11-9, though, and the program has gone an impressive 8-2 when hosting the Hokies.
