Born evil? Mom, daughter killed by same suspect 23 years apart – TCDPOD Clip – Everything Law and Order Blog

Travis Lewis served 23 years in prison for killing Sally McKay and Lee Baker on the property of Snowden House at Horseshoe Lake in Arkansas in 1996. In March 2020, Sally’s daughter Martha was found murdered at the same property — responding deputies found Travis Lewis at the scene. Lewis fled, jumped into the lake, and drowned. Ana Garcia and Dr. Judy Ho discuss the story.

  1. Sad horrific story! This is why prison reform & therapy is necessary. It teaches life skills, builds self esteem & can give insight to weather 1 is fit for society in most cases! It’s been proven in US & around the world, but bc prison is modern day slavery, the WICKED & GREEDY CRIPT KEEPERS aren’t interested! & if you don’t know 1s childhood, you can’t say 1 was born evil, but you can say life experiences can change a persons mentality!

  2. I heard this story recently by listening to the podcasts i had missed. I heard “Horseshoe lake and after listening I called my mother. She grew up in Memphis and I told her I recognized the Lake name. She said “you’ve been there when you were little” I then just let her talk. My grandparents had a cabin on the lake. She then asked “Did they Mention the Snowden family?” She then told about memories of swimming with the family and how generous the family was. My mother who now is73 but she still remembered the “plantation” which was normal in Arkansas/ Tennessee to call a large mansion on a large amount of land. I asked if there were any rumors about a man working at the mansion which she hadn’t heard anything. But thank you for telling that crime story.

  3. How does someone so stupid acquire and get to live in her own mansion? It’s like she dedicated her life to making sure the killer of her parents gets a second chance to come kill her. Going to the parole board meeting advocating for he’s release, then moving the guy into your home after release? There had to be something romantic or sexual going on here cause it make no sense at all what she did.

  4. Martha and Lee are my first cousins and Martha's mother was my Aunt Sally. There is a LOT of circumstantial evidence out there that Travis did not act alone in the murders of Sally and Lee. Travis even worked for Sally for a little bit.
Yes, he was negatively influenced by poverty and peers. Yes, he was definitely negatively influenced by 23 years in jail and drugs. He did well for a year but began using and stealing for the second year which is why Martha stopped connection with him. The night he killed Martha, he was also suspected to be high which is why he may have been so impulsive that night with Martha and why he died in the lake.

  5. I don’t think people are born evil . Satan avd demons aren’t evil . I do however believe some people are sociopaths. They don’t have feeling for anyone but themselves. Ny fir her son-in-law has bee. Diagnosed with narcisic personality disorder, psychopathy, intermediate explosive disorder , and he’s a sociopath. I know for a fact his mother was avd is physically, emotionally, and possibly sexually abusucs . She loves to put him down, use money to control him, and publicly rub on him and tell him how sexy he is . FOR REAP! 😩
It would not surprise me if he turns out or is a serial rapist or murdered . My four grandkids have to go to house for his visitation with them . Worries me to death .
Just thought I’d share . Prayers please

  6. Rehabilitation is not Martha’s job. She is not equipped to handle this.
She thinks her goodness can cure evil? He was born evil. He lived there as a child and teen and was jealous and wanted that kind of wealth but would only rob to get it.
    No good deeds go unpunished

When Lewis was finally released on parole in 2018, McKay quietly gave him a job doing work on the property, Hutton says.

But before her death, she fired him. Police had heard about a theft at McKay's house before her murder, says Crittenden County Chief Investigator Todd Grooms. After she died, Hutton read in her diary that she'd sold a chandelier for $10,000 cash, which she stashed in the house.

Travis happened to be there that day, says Hutton. “Then the money vanished. She fired him after the money disappeared,”
Yes nature of the beast, we KNOW WHO OR WHAT THIS MAN IS……..But get the narrative right Source: PEOPLE.COM and also it was HER nature and stupid decision to allow this despite the repeated warning from friends. And she ACCUSED him of theft so he reverted to type, was her ego so big that she thought she could control his actions and as soon as something happens …..hhhmmmmmm who is to blame.

  8. For some reason I believe she made him kill her relatives in 1996, he alone goes to prison while she lives freely for 23 years whilst he's bitter in prison and planning his come back. He gets out, she supports him because she feels bad and doesn't want him to talk. He's still angry and eventually kills her for making him go to prison alone for 23 years. WHO FORGIVES THE KILLER WHO MURDERED YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS?????

  9. Sending a child to prison. Sure ain’t going to make them saints. It’s proven that if u rehabilitate most people they will not recommit crimes But the elite doesn’t care about them or you.
And because so many Americans are easy to hate. They know they can easily keep this fact hidden in plain site my I add
They care about making money off criminals who hurt You. What do u think they learn about in jail. That u have only yourself to rely on to stay alive in there. Me me me. Not therapy that is so obviously needed in there the most. Going to jail in the states has NOTHING to do with Rehabilitation it has to do with punishment (which obviously doesn’t work ) and again money
    Mass incarceration!!!

  10. According to the bible, there are seeds of Cain and seeds of Abel. Cain was of the seed of his father, the devil and his offspring carry that gene. Abel was of the good seed. It's possible that there are bad genes and good genes. Watch the 3 part short video series by Pastor Jesse Smith, entitled, "The Serpent Seed Doctrine." It is quite interesting. Just a theory.

  11. I don't believe in the concept of "evil" but I do believe people can be born "broken" (e.g. – mental illness or strong anti-social tendencies). Usually, a broken person can learn to play well with others, given the right environment. However, there can always be that rare human that is so broken that no amount of expert nurturing can help them. This is what a lot of people think of as "pure evil". Until there is some medical way to precisely fix the broken person, the best thing we can do is keep them away from other people. You can be against the death penalty and still realize that there are people you just can't fix.
