This sounds so much like the Brian Brimager case. The victim dated a marine, the man kills the victim, and they were on vacation when the murder happened and the killer got away with murder for a few years.
A parent is their best investigator it comes to show

His dusty ass was finally captured in El Salvedore last month.
In 2022 they captured him early September. I can't wait for the judge to say that his sentence is life with no parole.
