Her cousin is not clever for just shutting up for 7 years. Also how did investigators not go to her workplace and find out about it? The whole investigation seems to have been so poorly.
A 17 mile drive up there, phone records showing when the calls from the house stopped. In this case I think the police should have focused on alibis and possibilites. Also very risky to do such a thing, because it will be discovered quickly. Shooting 2 people and burning a 3rd person and a whole house seems very rambo, 2 shoeprints found at the wheelbarrow. It does look like young people wanting to get even and somehow choosing a very violent way. It doesn't look like robbery or serial killer or anything like that. I think they should have put way more effort into coroberating the stories of the few suspects they had.
I would have loved to see both or one of them confesses.. and tell all
Christian smith and Robert pape were found guilty of murders and were prisoned serving life sentences without a possibility of parole….thy wil spend the rest of thier lives in prison….
Wow, this was way better than the 48 Hours coverage. Usually that show is pretty good, but they didn't have ANY of this in theirs. Crazy case!

I remember when these murders happened. I grew up in the Coachella valley and was friends with Robert Pape’s brother, who actually just recently passed in a fire.
Knowing who did it and proving who did it are two different things and sometimes it really really sucks watching people just get away with murder and then some homicide detectives really drop the ball these areas sometimes have two or three homicide detectives who just aren't skilled or experienced with solving murders let alone a triple homicide

Everyone seeing this episode knows the 2 guys in high school or college that were the same duo. Two class clowns when apart but two raging psychopaths when together. When they were together everyone would know that one day they will cause some real tragedy in life. Cringy to even post this comment because it brings back 27 year old bad memories of the two I went to school with.

Thank God they found guilty of 1st degree @ 2018 & sentenced life with no parole.

I am So Thankful for the private Investigator that donated all of his time to get justice for Sara and her family. The original D.A. should have also been charged in this case. He is such an Evil, Selfish Coward! I can't even begin to imagine all of the pain family and close friends suffered because of this Evil and Cold Blooded, Calloused Crime. I am also Thankful for the new D.A. that helped bring Justice to this family by reviewing all of Louise's, the private invesigators evidence.

Saw this story sone years ago and it’s just as evil years later. Those men that are jealous, possessive, controlling are dangerous when rebuffed. Ladies beware and be safe. Finally getting investigated. Church my rear end. Not for the likes of this monster.

Late to this case, but so grateful that this family got justice. What is mind-blowing is how naive and ignorant people are to real Evil….proclaiming shock upon the first arrest of these 2 sick killers, how they couldn't have done it—because they were church-going, family-oriented, and non-aggressive men.

In prison for life, finally. Very glad this case was solved, but truly disgusted by the officers and old DA for their levels of corruption and incompetence. When will they be better while working in positions of authority……..? Corruption all goes on way too much without much penalty.

They are so innocent. The story about the argument at Dennys is a huge lie. It wasn’t Robert it was Austin Alba. The roommate of Becky’s current boyfriend.
This story is so wrong. Robert and her had been broken up for ever when this happened. She was dating a guy named Jacob and his roommate hated Becky and he’s the one at Denny’s.
The story about the business card is total bs. It didn’t have his dna on it. That Javi kid, the obsessed friend who’s father worked for the DA was solely responsible for the evidence against these guys.
The innocence project is working on getting them out.
There’s way more evidence I didn’t mention. This documentary is so wrong and the private investigator is just started looking into the case years and years later. He’s just a crook

There are a variety of calibers, but still the sum of them all is very minor. Since we already know a .40 cal was used, we can focus on how extremely popular that caliber is. I'd love to see a breakdown of the numbers but I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of crimes involving shootings with handguns involve 2 rounds at the top of the list, 9mm and .40cal.

He was bragging that things got out of hand the night that the murders occurred. That statement caught my attention right away. What happened to these folks was bad enough, I sincerely hope that they didn't do even worse to these people. I fear that when he said things got out of him that night, that perhaps those two monsters abused that young woman and her mother. I hope these monsters spend every last day of their miserable lives in prison in fear for their own lives.
