Spotify not working for you? You may have an ‘app problem’

Spotify users worldwide are experiencing widespread service disruptions, with the music streaming platform reportedly taking action against unauthorized modified app versions.
Several users have reported facing issues with the streaming platform on social media platform X. “Fr they took down all the Spotify mod apks,” wrote one user, while another expressed defiance, stating, “So Spotify really took down all the modded apk versions of it. Still ain’t gonna buy premium f**k capitalism (maybe manifest it idk)”.

Spotify seems to have taken down modded Spotify apps

The primary cause appears to be Spotify’s crackdown on modded applications. Users accessing the platform through unauthorized modified apps are now encountering error messages like “This playlist is empty” and finding themselves unable to stream music.
The company seems to have implemented API-level changes to ensure the service only functions on the official app.
While Spotify offers a free version, features like ad-free listening, offline streaming and more requires subscription. So, users have been skimping on paying the subscription, using modded applications to get these premium features.
However, using modified apps carries significant risks, including potential personal data theft and financial fraud. Furthermore, users accessing modded versions risk not only losing current access but may also face potential permanent account banning.
