A Florida jury awarded Maya Kowalski’s family an additional $50 million nearly an hour after deliberating on what punitive damages the plaintiffs should receive. The jury agreed with the Kowalski family’s claims, stating Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and its doctor’s actions in imprisoning Maya were responsible for — and led to — Beata Kowalski taking her own life. Maya Kowalski and her family — who were the subject of Netflix’s “Take Care of Maya” — sued the hospital claiming its treatment toward the family and claims of child abuse pushed Maya’s mother to take her own life. 1. probabley the first time maya felt any one cared for her since she was 10 thank you jury for looking out for maya i hope this brings some relief to maya but no amount of money will bring her mom back hope all them evel people think about what they did to maya and her family

  2. DCF needs to be broken down and built back up. File criminal charges asap against the doctors and nurses that held her and let’s get John Hopkins out of FLORIDA asap!!!

  3. I cried for their victory and the justuce system works well this time. May this family will go on to their lives and continue to prosper mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and be back as one family again. God is good. ❤

  4. This is so amazing, been following the families story. I know this will not bring back your mom but it’s justice for what you and your family have gone through! 💚💚

  5. No amount of money will ever bring back the children's mother and the wife of their father, however I am glad that they finally were granted some very small justice and hopefully some peace.

  6. I bet the only thing going through the kids minds at the reading of the verdicts was " I want my mom back". This was never about their financial gain. It was about making sure the guilty parties were held accountable and this NEVER happens again.

  7. The medical system is so corrupted. Individuals with insurance or Medicaid are ripped off by the clinic's staff and doctors. I do not have health insurance, and I prohibit my children from getting sick from August 14 to June 3 each year. One time, I took the kids for shots, and by accident, I saw a medical bill for a shot for $380 at the clinic, for that same vaccination, I was charged $13.50 plus a consultation fee of $25. I cannot imagine the emotional traumas this family has been through due to a corrupted, greedy hospital. The entire medical system should be investigated.

  8. False imprisonment is also kidnapping.

Who's going to prison? Someone needs to go to prison.

If the person or persons who committed these crimes never go to prison then justice is not served.

  9. Im usually not a fan of big settlements like this but in this case good for them! I cant believe what they and other families have and are going through.

  10. This case was only about vindicating Beata’s name and penalising the hospital and going some way to prevent any future hospital or institution from allowing this atrocious behaviour to happen again.
