Florida man Timothy Ferriter is accused of locking up his adopted son inside of a room he had built in the family’s garage. Ferriter faces charges of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment and neglect of a child. Court records out of Jupiter, Florida show that the door to the room had a deadbolt on the outside, along with multiple other locks. Investigators also found video from a ceiling camera that showed Ferriter allegedly punching, throwing, and beating the son multiple times. When Ferriter’s son wasn’t in school, he allegedly was locked in the room — only allowed out to eat or sometimes use the restroom.

  1. It's the fact that there was an attempt at hiding things from the police that tells me they KNEW what they were doing was wrong. If they had trouble with his behavior (still NO excuse, but just for arguments sake), they were desperate, they didn't know what to do, they meant well – why would they feel the need to move thing around and lie? Nah, they knew exactly how bad they were. His outbursts were just an excuse for them. And the boy's behavior was probably caused by their treatment of him in part.

  2. I presume that poor old lady in the coloured jacket is the defendant's grandmother. The long grey haired guy is his brother and the dark haired lady who often sits where grandma is, is defendant's mother. They all seem shocked that the world could imagine their brother, son, grandson was anything but perfect. "We all know that children need to be punished to get the devil outta them!"
All tearful about the mean old prosecution!

  3. Laws need to continue to change concerning children… If a parent neglect a child( children) and not only neglect but confine them from having a normal home environment, that alone is horrendous.. I can’t imagine locking a child as if he / she didn’t exist.. then that is completely unacceptable.. I believe parents should be penalized, or even encarcerste for such actions..

  4. Sad to hear a child having to testify against their parents.. The things parents put children trough.., a case of unlawful conduct and imprisonment of a child.. a run away child.. running away from cruelty, locked in box like confinement.. a bucket for a toilet.. and slept and was left locked for long periods of time…😢

  5. 3:29:43 – explanation on how long the child was in the room: (i) 3 hours during daytime, (ii) 10 hours during night.
This is different from the impression that I got from reading some messages here, suggesting that the child is continuously in the room, except to go to school.
Note: I don't agree with what the parents did, but I think facts need to be presented correctly.

  6. I find it strange that CPS isn't the one that solves this issue.
Are we now going to clog the justice system by kids sueing their parents through the DA's office!?

  7. He is definitely on the autistic spectrum, the defense is treating him like hes on trial, all the questioning just focussed on all the bad things he did, he DID NOT deserve to to be locked in a box… a person on the spectrum cant always articulate correctly, they have to be given time to think , one question at once .. his answers were different at times because what he says at the time is the truth, they dont normally have the ability to lie , everything in their world either is…or isnt… i feel for this child … lock the parents up… and split them up in the courtroom !!!

  8. i am on catch up crew, I only have one question. Why are we putting this child on trial for the behaviour of his parents? No doubt he had some behaviours that werent the most positive. None of those behaviours impact the weight or impact of what his parents did to him.

  9. Like my Mentor, my Granny used to say – NEVER, under any circumstance, EVER judge a book by it's cover. Being able to pass a background check is in no way shape or form an indication of a person's character. The only true test of character is to give a person power over another person. That's when their true colors come out.

  10. When you belong to a church or some sort of religious group and you adopt from another country you are praised and looked at as such caring people without question imo they should start asking questions this is a perfect example of what goes on behind closed doors isnt what they want you to see

  11. Well it appears evidentially that the second defendant may as well make a plea. Also, is it normal that a second defendant is allowed to watch the first case? It seems as though she will now have an advantage in some way.

  12. You don't punish a child this way you go to counselling yu can't sbuse him to give him lesson you talk show him live findout why his behaving this way. The kid is wrong but obviously his not well !
    Parents are wrong 😢

  13. Why would they have the male attorney question the young witness to begin with? His demeanor is so confrontational and stiff and judging by her responses her tone is so closed off and challenging toward him. Can’t blame her… why are most defense attorneys like car salesman?
