The lawyer representing Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and its doctors presented his opening statement Thursday. Howard Hunter explained to jurors that the hospital’s care team followed protocol when caring for Maya Kowalski — the center of Netflix documentary ‘Take Care of Maya.’ The Kowalski family is suing the hospital for $200 million in connection to Maya’s mother’s death — claiming a child abuse allegation led to her taking her own life.

Maya's mother definately had some mental issues to take her life and cause her children a lifetime of emotional pain. That act was very selfish to intentionally take the kids mother away. BTW, the hospital says it did not believe it was CRPS but they were billing the insurer for CRPS. Is the hospital admitting to insurance fraud?
Why does the diagnosis matter if the treatment was the same???? Maybe because one diagnosis suggests that the mother is intentionally trying to harm her child. It suggests that the child is possibly faking or is somehow brainwashed to believe she is sick but in fact is not! It also caused CPS to get involved, the court to be involved, and the parents not allowed to be with their such child! It shows that these medical professionals formed a personal opinion of this family and that opinion influenced the treatment(medical and personal) of the family by these "professionals"! All of this ultimately caused the mom to take her own life. It is heartbreaking that this family could not just receive care for their child with compassion and support from their medical team! I am fortunate enough to have an extensive medical background, which helped when my youngest son had some serious gastro intestinal issues around his 2nd birthday, but most parents do not have much medical knowledge. They have no choice but to rely on what they are being told by Dr.s. It is so difficult for any parent to see their child suffer. Any good mom would go to any lengths to help their child.
Surely preventing the parents contact is holding her against her will.

So, the doctors don’t have the science or technology to prove that a medical condition exists…therefore, they move it to a Psychiatric disorder. Where it’s left with the patient to treat and heal themselves. Nope. Not good enough.

Doing “nothing wrong “ is not the same as doing what’s right and especially “doing no harm “. Their “harm” resulted in the death of a mother who loved her daughter. There were so many ways they could have done better for the whole family. The hospital gets NO PASS from me.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THE DOCTORS AND NURSES AT THE JOHNS HOPKINS. They did HORRIBLE things. They judged whatever they wanted to think and didn’t even listen to their patients. Also they didn’t know exactly what the CRPS is and didn’t try to figure out the treatment for that. They didn’t do everything they could. That’s the problem!!! We know the doctors are smart in general but they do not know every diseases. So they should be humble and study all the time. Doctors and nurses who were with Maya at johns hopkins, they don’t deserve to be doctors and nurse at all!!!!

200 million? I would say, pure greed. I find it interesting that the mother recorded everything, as if she were planning a lawsuit herself.
The comments stating “hospitals always win” aren’t necessarily true. Hospitals and other medical centers do make mistakes, and lose lawsuits as a consequence of these mistakes.

They're not honest I had a lab test February 2018 a serum test 4 months after a car accident , so John's Hopkins knew I had brain Injury, they questioned diagnoses , they lie , they wrote I had post concussion lingering system from a childhood brain Injury, that I never had a injured brained , everybody crazy , the Dr's lied .
Hospital staff said that her diagnosis was wrong and the mom was crazy yet billed insurance for the exact thing the mom was being accused of lying about.
The fact that these clowns are still claiming Maya doesn't have CRPS is insane. They are just straight up lying.
Maya needs to STOP being in DENIAL and come to terms that her Mother LITERALLY FED HER DRUGS to the point where (Juvenile) Maya had became a ketamine Fien and a complete junkie all at the same time that was dependent on KETAMINE!.
