Bodycam: Teacher Arrested at School for ‘Drunkenness’ After Alcohol Was Smelled on Her Breath – Everything Law and Order Blog

Body camera footage captures the arrest of an elementary school teacher in Oklahoma for public intoxication after she appeared to be drunk inside her own classroom. Jennifer Davis, the teacher in question, was found by Tecumseh police with red, glassy eyes and slurred speech when they sat down with her at 8:45 a.m. on September 7th. Despite blowing a 0.066 on a breathalyzer test, which is under the legal limit for driving, Davis’ behavior raised serious concerns about her ability to properly care for and teach young students.

In the footage, Davis can be heard pleading “Please don’t do this,” and offering to resign while asking for her sister to come get her. She claimed to have only had a glass of wine the night before, and denied drinking anything on the day of her arrest. However, the evidence of her inebriated state during school hours was impossible to ignore for the responding officers.

  1. What happened to the right to face your accusser? I’m retired LEO (25 years) and I wouldn’t have arrested her. This would have been a ticket at best and get a ride. No need to add insult to injury. Compassion used to be a part of the job. 🤦🏼‍♂️

  2. I think there was so many better ways to handle this other than jail. This lady had no criminal intent, and clearly has other personal issues going on. They just gave her jail and ruined her career, so sad.

  3. I think she drank more than one wine or she had an eye opener. Also, she could have drank in school and the level didn’t go up yet. Even so, there was no reason to call the cops, I don’t see what she did to make them do that. Apparently someone doesn’t like her, smelled alcohol on her probably from the night before and saw an opportunity to get her in trouble. So mean.

  4. So ridiculous to take someone off to jail for something like this. This should have been kept in house and she should have been allowed to go into rehab and have a chance to straighten out her life if that’s what she needs. But cops do not belong here unless she has been proven to be some kind of a danger. People have a right to remain silent, and that is.EXACTLY what they should do. NEVER EVER call the cops unless someone is an immediate danger!

  5. The Karen's in this video are her co-workers. They threw the book at this lady. I understand the circumstances that she is a teacher and has to set an example to her students, but honestly this could have been handled differently. She was polite and cooperative during this whole scene.

  6. I hope this lady spoke to an attorney. There are a few things that’s wrong here. Who called the cops on her? She looks and seems fine. She could have gotten that BAC taking cough medicine.

  7. This is BS.
I get this is a violation of school policy. So fine, fire her, trespass her.

But she did not break the law. There is no reason to arrest her. If having 0.066 BAC in public is PI, then by that logic it is illegal to get a single drink at a bar and walk outside. They can't even say she acted drunken disorderly.

  8. Make me wonder if there was something else that happened that made the staff not like her or have something against her. I agree she shouldn’t have been there with her bac at that level but the treatment was odd. The phone call with her sister was weird too, like this must have been an issue they talked about before.

  9. she doesnt seem even a little bit tipsty wtf, she's perfectly coherent, she doesn't slur her speech at all. she did poorly on the head movement test but tbqh this was certainly not "public intoxication" the same way it is when someone is drunk and screaming on the street
