Attorneys representing Alex Murdaugh shocked the Lowcountry when they announced a motion for a new trial for the convicted family killer, citing alleged jury tampering by the clerk of courts. Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin said Rebecca Hill, who read the guilty verdict in Murdaugh’s trial, allegedly pressured jurors to reach a verdict and even told them to disregard the disgraced lawyer’s testimony. The ghostwriter who helped Hill write her book, “Behind the Doors of Justice: The Murdaugh Murders,” spoke to the Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy about his dealings with the courthouse clerk.

  1. As soon as this guy started talking about prayers I instantly lost trust in the woman or any respect for her. Anyone who prays with fellow workers is so wrong on every level. Religion does not belong in any workplace, but especially in a courtroom. The separation of church and state enshrined in the Constitution means that all court staff should be bending over backwards to keep any of the thousands of gods people believe in out of the court. The fact that she does it means she is not trustworthy, and knows nothing about the foundations of the law that the court is enforcing.

  2. That is his "pet name" for her? I have never seen a case in history where a clerk of court is congratulated by the Attorney General of state following a guilty verdict in a criminal trial. That alone is suspicious. South Carolinians instead of jumping onto the anti-Murdaugh, Harpootlian bandwagon, should see this for what it is. The Attorney General is more than acting in a heavy-handed manner. If the media, and other members in authority in public eye were at all honest, or fair in regard to this matter, then they would relate the fact, that Attorney General Wilson is a Republican, and that Murdaugh and his defense team are well-known Democrats in the state of South Carolina. Murdaugh has become the state, and many in South Carolina are trying to make him a national scapegoat. In fact, Mr. Wilson's Assistant Attorney General a few years back, vigorously prosecuted members of the state legislature from both parties for corruption, until Attorney General Wilson stopped his efforts to ensure a clean, fair, and kosher government in South Carolina. The is politics and scapegoating at its worst. It is kind of hard to have a fair trial when the prosecution has already prosecuted someone fueled by the news media.

  3. 😂😂😂😂😂and we are supposed to believe the lawyers of one of the biggest liars and manipulators created?
Yeah okkkkk… good luck with that liar(law)yers😂
Murdaugh will never see the light of day again- if anyone is interested in justice in the LOW country 🙄
Justice for ALL victims of this CRIME FAMILY! 🙏🏽

  4. 07:51 She deviated from her oath of office by mixing religion with politics. When are people, no matter how much god they wish to enjoy in their personal lives, are going to realize that there is a dry and cut and clear distinction b/w church and state~? This is so damned important. And "a prayerful jury" – brother or whatever to the cop on scene as a juror~? Give me a freaking break!! Man, I would be so much fun on and to a "prayerful jury". The whole idea of that nauseates me.

  5. What a ridiculous interview. Since when does a 6-month phone relationship constitute knowing anything at all about a person? I guess my mailman and I are soulmates, my garbage guy must be my best friend. I see the same cashier at the grocery store and we talk every week so I guess that makes us engaged to be married.

  6. My imagination runs wild when I imagine Becky hill telling the jury to vote guilty while the balif as well as all the other court officials pretend not to notice Becky 🙌🏻🤢🥄👩🏼‍🦱✊🏻force feeding the jury, on delivering a guilty verdict for alex as she stalks them with her eagle eyes 👀🦅👩🏼‍🦱✊🏻
📗✍🏻👩🏼‍🦱👉🏻 remember he is guilty !!!!
    📗👩🏼‍🦱📢dead man walking,Guilty!👀👮🏻‍♂️
    👀🙄👀😳😕👀😐🙁👀😯👀😳🙄
    ((🔎📂🧬🌲👤💥👤🛰️📳📳📳🛰️🚙))
This is just bizarre, and I guess the jury decided after their verdict …or at least 2 of them did to say maybe I should say something 🤔🥴 about that wooooops
Even though the other witnesses say they have know idea what the other two jurrors ore talking about .
    ☝️😩😧🙁🤨👎🧐🤚????🥴🥴
By the way jim has been in trouble along with his client Alex for constantly
Violating the rules of the prison yet Jim expects to be looked at with integrity ,
Jim should practice what he praeaches
Before pointying the dirty end of the stick .

  7. the more they're religious and 'praying' constantly the more likely they are to make non-pragmatic decisions. Now this case is gonna get thrown out and murder murdaugh is gonna be free to go and whack some more people. His son 'buster' looks unhinged also, zero emotion from those eggplants

  8. Well she better be praying now because Becky Hill boo all the attorneys the judge and all 12 jurers and another judge oh and Alex murdaugh will be there in the hearing September 14 this Thursday morning it might take a few days and weeks but I believe that in the end we are going to see another triel .
They will be moving it from Hampton county this time and the jury will be put up in motels and I trust that they will do it right.

  9. The amount of people being fooled by these bogus accusations is astounding. They don’t even make sense. No one was going to vote not guilty. The jury deliberated for only 3 hours. Wake up, people.

  10. Being a court employee, she should have trust in juries. They usually get it right.
Why would she think she needed to influence them??!!!?
So, now he could get a new trial!! Waste tax payers money!!
I'm pretty sure the outcome will be the same. Guilty!!
I watched the entire trial, & I believe he is guilty. Sad as it is, for a person to murder their spouse & a parent to murder their child.
    😢

  11. Personally I don’t think she’s guilty of the what she’s accused of.
I think AM has a hold over Harpootlian and Griffin and demanded they do something or he’ll go public…they in turn have paid a couple of jurors to lie. I mean if you’re going to hunt for evidence to overturn verdict/claim mistrial then you hunt for evidence that proves your clients innocence. Obviously there isn’t because he’s guilty. So they’ve done the next best thing and trying to bring court staff/system into doubt. I hope they’re found out and removed from practicing law themselves (watch press conference and JG shaking when he first starts reading)

  12. One must wonder how many cases have such jury tempering and no one ever find out about it. Especially that jurors are encouraged not to discuss the case even after the trial
