An associate professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill was gunned down in a lab on campus on Monday. Authorities said Professor Zijie Yan was allegedly killed by Tailei Qi, who worked closely with his research group in the past year. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber breaks it down with former US Marshall Art Roderick, who says the shooting “appears targeted.”

  1. This is why you dont mess with the pecking order, you give dorks a voice and take the bullies job away (bullies are needed to teach the weak how to stand up to their fears, I fought 3 bullies as a kid) there has to be someone to fill in that void, and let me tell you, dorks with traumatic life styles are way more dangerous than bullies (a bully knows he is strong but feels weak at home, a dork feels weak all the time and when he gets a chance to unload he does it literally on other people) . Same goes with Caucasians' vs African Americans self entitlements, the worst you get from a Caucasians is a Karen the worse you get from African Americans is violence, then we go into the whole Male vs Female, you make the women the "stronger" and "smarter" of the two and you get abuse of power, it is ok to want to flip the script but dont be naïve or gullible about it, keep an eye out for what the changes are. Life works so much better when we all play as a team, every one has a role to fill, FILL IT!! or else there will be a void and its usually replaced by something worse.

  2. Mental health issues? Chinese students don't have mental health issues because of academics. At age 3, until you leave graduate college, your life is just studing & being the best at everything, academic-wise. Their lives revolve around studying.

If mental health issues from academics were true, the entire chinese population in the world would be psycho. Remember that girl who killed her tiger mom? Yep. Academic pressures in the chinese circle come from parents, not teachers.

  3. Simple. You still have those secret china police stations in your area. Maybe he was just a hitman for china. We'll never know. Chinese nationalists bring their secrets to their graves.

  4. THE INCOMPLETE WAY TO LOOK AT THIS WHOLE THING (A chinese MURDERING SOMEONE AT A I WOULD SAY UPPER-TIER COLLEGE IN THE USA) IS TO SAY: "oh it was a dead-last species who in AMERICA 2023 haven't achieved anything as a species"
THE MORE COMPLETE WAY TO LOOK AT THIS THING IS (dude, you guys are the least desirable species genetically in the world (and koreans), AND! you do chnis hygiene and mass murder MILLIONS OF PEOPLE GLOBALLY THAT IS PERMANENTLY IN THE WORLD LIKE THE TRADITIONAL FLU,
AND! THEN!? ONE OF YOUR KIND GOES AND DOES THIS AT AN AMERICAN UNIVERSITY?!?!"

  5. As a chinese person, I think the only reason that this happened is because of the easy access of guns in the US, period. If both of them were in China, the most would happen is some stabbing, and it might not enough make national news. I'm not trying to get political with guns, just wondering how did he get one? I thought you have to have a green card to buy a gun. It's hard to imagine as a phd student he would have a green card already.
