Murder suspects who know they committed the crime will go to great lengths to avoid serving time behind bars. From hiring ninja assassins and providing false alibis, to shifting blame and claiming they “don’t identify by that name,” killers have fabricated some of the most bizarre defenses in hopes of convincing a jury of their innocence. In the case of Richard Merritt, he claimed he was framed by a ninja assassin. Darrell Brooks Jr. argued that he didn’t identify by his own name. Anthony Todt shifted blame to his wife, while Robert Durst provided a slew of inconsistent explanations. Cristhian Bahena Rivera initially confessed to the crime, but later claimed he was forced to do so by masked men.

  1. Telles and Richard Merritt remind me of one another! They are both 🤡 that think they are slick with their mouths and better than everyone else but in reality (AGAIN) are nothing but 🤡

  2. The last case, the guy who doesn't speak English…how did he know what the other ppl were saying if he only spoke Spanish? And boy, if I were the girls parents I would be so angry about undocumented & illegal immigrants!

  3. I wonder if a lawyer's body ever crapped out on them in the middle of a defense. Person gets up talking and then immediately crumbles down because their back spasmed and cramped up on them. So you're just there on the floor unable to give your defense until your spine relaxes after like 30 minutes

  4. Not even four minutes in & I’m already creeped out & aghast by the defendant calling the “other man/men” who killed his mother, “gentleman/men” then “monsters” & speaking so emotionlessly.

  5. Prosecutor should’ve asked the last guy what country the two guys were from. If they’re American, boom. Story destroyed. He doesn’t speak a lick of English, so how could he understand what they were saying ?

  6. I did feel kind of bad for Robert Durst. I mean he's a murderer, probably killed his first wife too, but seeing some obviously terminally ill guy struggling to complete a sentence… I still felt bad for him. It's good his victim(s) got justice, but… honestly seeing him hooked up and wheezing through words just reminded me of when my grandpa was dying.

  7. Dude not only told detectives matter of factly how he killed his own family but he had to be the worst actor on the stand pretending to cry. Made Amber Heard's testimony in Depps case look like it was award worthy.

  8. Durst was just something you couldn’t make up it was so bizarre. I do believe his crazy upbringing played a part in his horrible life. How did you leave out he went on the run and his disguise was cross dressing? Oh and gets busted stealing food when he had money to pay!

  9. I think its obvious Durst maliciously took the lives of his neighbor and 1st wife lol. This guy was a serial killer and got away with it for the longest time. Unfortunate that Susan had to be his last victim but at least he was convicted for her death.
