Their day should have been ending, but when five D.C. police officers decided to take one more call, they saved a man’s life. Officer Steven Hines was driving along Bladensburg Road NE Sunday night when he came across a burning car just before 10:30 p.m. The driver, dazed from crashing into a utility pole, couldn’t free himself. Hines activated his body camera and ran toward the burning car. “I tried to look in it, but there was too much smoke. I couldn’t really see inside the vehicle,” Hines said. “I’m going to break the window right now,” Hines can be heard saying in the video. Back at the station, several officers heard the call and went to help. “Our minds were pretty much on going home.
Another couple of minutes, if we hadn’t been there, if Hines hadn’t stumbled across it, it’d be a completely different story,” Officer John Hayes said. Officers Jacoby Taylor and Roberto Adams quickly pulled the semi-conscious man to safety. “Adams quickly jumped in and was able to pull the seat belt off the driver. At that point, we quickly pulled him out of the car and got him away from the flames,” Taylor said. Even after the man had been pulled to safety, the officers refused to leave that car until they knew no one else was inside. But, no one else was inside the car. Police said the driver was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Legend had it he is still saying yessir
Brave men!
His manners were intact the whole time. Yes sir, they were!
There are more videos of cops breaking the law then they're all of them doing any good. What I'm saying is never trust a cop and there is video proof of that
Awesome job officers!
Nell'indifferenza del traffico cittadino lui è stato senz'altro un miracolato.
Why aren't cops trained where to hit the glass to break a car door window? Only the corners and very edge of the glass. The rest of the window can survive a nuke.
If the police weren’t there I bet you no one else would have tried to get him out before burning to death. Good work on the police
wonderful job officers!!!
BUT I HAVE TO GIVE ALL COPS A PLEDGE OF ALLEGENSE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAVE A LIFE!!! COMPLETE AWESOMENESS!!!
COPS TAKE LIFE'S AND THEY GIVE LIFE NO WONDER SOME ACTUALLY WALK AROUND BELIEVING THERE GOD AND TAKE THE LAW TO ANOTHER LEVEL!!
PEOPLE ALWAYS SAYING SHIT ABOUT COPS AND YES THERE ARE A FEW BAD ONES ….BUT FOR THE MOST PART THEY TRY TO DO GOOD ,IT'S ONLY CRIMINALS THAT COMPLAIN.
How the hell was he still conscious and not passed out from smoke inhalation!? When he busted that window that smoke came out thick as fuck!
Outrageous, he should've just tased the window.
Of course it's a chevy
Scary not no civilian stopped to help.
Some cops are bad but these few good cops give me hope this is why I wanna be in the PD I'm a. Level 3 security guard at a bank but I wanna get my peace officers licence and help out people and show people not all cops are bad
if people think all cops are thugs and literally wants them dead, then they would change their minds if suddenly this happened to you because there would be rescuing them from certain d00m
