A car and foot chase along Highway 22 involving a stolen car, Dallas police, a Polk County sergeant and a Taser was captured on camera and resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man Sunday night.

A Dallas police officer spotted a stolen Honda being driven by Jeffery Rodgers, of Dallas, shortly before 8 p.m. According to police, Rodgers refused to pull over and led officers on a pursuit through northern Dallas and into rural Polk County. A Polk County Sheriff’s Office sergeant joined officers in their chase. A Dallas Police Department dashboard camera and body camera captured the tail end of the car chase and foot pursuit.

About 10 miles into the pursuit, the stolen Honda’s engine was disabled and Rodger’s veered off the highway. He and his passenger, Morgan Swyers, of Dallas, fled the car on foot. Police chased after the pair, and Swyers surrendered. According to police, officers used a Taser to capture Rodgers. Police discovered methamphetamine, money and paraphernalia during the incident. Rodgers was arrested on several charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, attempt to elude on foot, attempt to elude in a vehicle and unlawful methamphetamine possession.

According to court records, Rodgers faced similar charges of methamphetamine possession, fleeing a police officer and unauthorized use of a vehicle out of Marion County following a March 21 police pursuit and crash. He was scheduled to appear for arraignment for those charges on Monday. He also pleaded guilty to fleeing a police officer and methamphetamine possession in Benton County. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and his license was suspended. Going back to 2013, he has been charged with various drug and motor vehicle theft crimes in Polk and Lincoln counties.

Swyers was arrested on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief. She currently had a warrant out for her arrest for failing to appear at a probation violation hearing in Lincoln County, according to court records. Both suspects were taken to Polk County jail. Rodgers appeared at Polk Count Circuit Court on Monday. His next court date is schedule for Thursday.

  1. Is the value of a car really worth putting an entire community at risk? All police chases that don’t involve a killing or kidnapping should be illegal. This is the worst excuse for a cop to get his adrenaline rush.

  2. Pled guilty on three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, one count of fleeing a police officer and one count of failure to perform the duties of a driver after property damage. Sentenced to one year and six months in prison along with one year of post-prison supervision. His multiple stolen car counts served concurrently. Charges of reckless endangering another person, possession of a stole vehicle, reckless driving, criminal driving, methamphetamine possession and interfering with an officer were dismissed. My guess is he is likely walking free as the plea was in June of 2016.

  3. Chest mounted cams are the worst, terrible pov. I don't even know why they're available on the chest. Lapel mounted cams and glasses with cams on the sideshould be the only bodycams given out. Less obstruction when the cop draws a weapon.

  4. Lol, the description says that this clown did the same thing back in March and also ended up in a crash, clearly some people shouldn't drive.

  5. they cut the video on the best part when the police says stop resisting and shoot 20 bullets on him.
