Las Cruces, New Mexico — On Feb. 3, 2021 at 1:38 p.m. LCPD Officer J. Herrera using his lights and siren initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Tahoe which he observed being operated erratically at a high rate of speed north bound on Solano Drive. After detecting the odor of marijuana and observing that the front passenger appeared nervous, as well as finding that Orozco was armed with a knife, Officer Herrera requested a backup officer to his location. Officer Herrera then obtained Orozco’s identification and returned to his unit to run Orozco for warrants—he learned that Orozco was wanted on a felony warrant for his arrest. Officer Herrera returned to place Orozco under arrest. Officer Herrera asked Orozco to shut off his vehicle which he did and advised Orozco to step out due to the warrant for his arrest. Officer Herrera began opening Orozco’s door to take him into custody as Orozco simultaneously turned on his vehicle. Officer Herrera then attempted to prevent Orozco’s escape; however, Orozco was able to place the vehicle into gear at which time he began to drag Officer Herrera who was partially inside the vehicle.
Back up Officer M. Carrera perceiving a deadly threat to Officer Herrera by being run over or rammed into a utility pole, discharged his firearm to stop Orozco. Joel Orozco fled the scene and abandoned the Chevrolet Tahoe nearby, but he was located nearly an hour later, hiding in a shed in the 1800 block of Sexton Street. The male front passenger was located, interviewed, and released soon after the incident. Unbeknownst to the officers a female seated behind Orozco at the time of the incident, who was not visible due to the illegally tinted windows on the vehicle, was struck by gunfire. The female was transported to an area hospital for treatment, and subsequently released. Officer Herrera was transported to an area hospital for treatment and remains on leave recovering from the injuries he sustained. Orozco was charged with Aggravated Battery (Deadly Weapon) Upon a Peace Officer; Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer; Receipt, Transportation or Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; Resisting, Evading or Obstructing an Officer—the charges have been bound over to District Court.

Im sorry im not hopping in a car when somebody pull off.
So is it standard procedure to jump into a suspects vehicle to try to stop him from fleeing? Its just seems like a stupid risk as the officers can hurt themselves and you never know the perp may have a gun he unloads on you, just let him go and make it a chase smh
Well, when u gotta go u gotta go
That was in my city and my neighbor
Your videos are outstanding and the detailed information provided very interesting. I'm not a huge fan of the short 1 of 2 minutes videos, but I guess that's all the footage that's available? Every rioter from BLM who gets arrested should be forced to watch this channel for 4 hours.
BRAZIL 🇧🇷
Prosze o takÄ… policje w Polsce
Tell me the dept didn't do that on purpose… Officer Herrara and Officer Carrera?? 🤣 Must get mixed up ALL the time!
I see several mistakes here.
Don’t tell a suspect that they’ve got warrants before you get them out of the vehicle and in cuffs.
Two, the officer shouldn’t have fired after the other officer stopped being dragged. Very bad shoot.
That ain't justice
Kinda wanna see how this one ended up.
and blm say criminal are nice and sweet…ya right…reality is a mess
Let me get this straight. They pull a guy over and don't check the backseat with blackout tint??? Could me mofos with guns pointed right at them. Then proceed to tell the guy he has a warrant while still in vehicle. Captain underpants award goes to….
Wow that's dangerous by the second cop
Telephone pole though…
"Oh my bad sir shit "
Shooting him was completely uneccissary and jumping into the vehicle was a clear hazard. Stupid decisions.
Did that cop just shoot at the direction his officer was? Wtf?
Officers Herrera and Carrera.
Why would you tell him that instead tactifully asking him to step out of the vehicle and talk about something else first?
I know command presence is everything, but I always wonder why police aren’t trained as master influencers and persuaders as well as law enforcers.
Would be incredible if our police were life long martial artists and gym rats with life long study of psych, sales, persuasion, and seduction.
Yes it’s a lot, but I’d rather pay cops six figures to
A) incentivize mastery of the profession
B) incentivize career pursuit
C) incentivize obeying the law
D) Drastically lowering dangerous situations
Nothing greater than these fit martial artists who in their down time are gentle and empathetic because they know they can kill anyone in the room.
I'm usually on blues side because they usually take out the trash on this channel, and not saying this wasn't justified but that was some DUMB shooting by that cop! Could have hit his partner easily! Could have a stray into those houses! Just not smart!
Just sending rounds down range, at a target over 100 yards away, with a residential neighborhood in the background… what could possibly go wrong?
Dude jumps in the truck with guy and holds on to the steering wheel. Should have held on to dude instead.
So this is why theyre all so jumpy jesus christ ehat a fucked up job
Uhhhhhhhh
In Europe this would be harder since you cant just drive off like that with manual. Start and go lol
Amazing how they shoot in residential areas and no one in the houses gets killed, or the innocent passenger in the vehicle
Too many shots fired at the fleeing car after the threat ended and Officer fell to the ground. I get 2 or 4 shots. But a whole magazine???
A
We had an officer Cox dragged to death in Rockford Il while being dragged to his death thankfully he was able to shoot and kill the POS driver before they crashed into a pole….the community tried to be outraged he was shot! Over a driving without a license charge, the guy who killed the cop worked at a bank….its amazing to me why he ran.
I see a lot of videos where the officers try to jump in the fleeing vehicle. Is that really the best way to go about it? Becaus sheesh hello serious injury
How in the hell do you do something like this and get out of jail the same day. Fricken liberals.
Mag dump in a residential area is truly some expert policing right there
He missed more then the gtaV police
Who or what was the officer shooting at?
Exhaust sounded decent anyway
yikes, 3 big mistakes here.
Quando escutei esse corvo cantando pensei, vai dar merda.😂😂😂
