Jacksonville, Florida — A Jacksonville police officer shot and wounded a man armed with a large butcher knife, after a witness said minutes earlier Saturday morning had threatened to rob and stab someone because he needed money. John Robert Ritter Jr., 39, was hospitalized in stable condition following the shooting about 9:11 a.m. near Northside Grocery at Trout River Boulevard and Lem Turner Road, T.K. Waters. Officers say, Ritter tried to commit the robbery, would not put down the knife and ran away from police. Officer Tim J. Davis, an 11-year Sheriff’s Office veteran, chased after him and tried to taze him but was not successful. One shot was then fired by the officer, hitting Ritter. There were no injuries to the officer, and the suspect has been transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Ritter, was charged with one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of burglary, according to police.

  1. I count 7-8 steps walking towards him before he shoots, Fair enough. Don’t walk towards the police with a knife.

  2. Social worker would have solved this no issues, sure we could even get biden to bring him along for some ice cream treats

  3. This is what I saw, the officer knows that just by his presence alone, the suspect will get agitated, so this officer pushes himself & forces himself further & further know very well that this will increase the agitation of the suspect, then the officer pulls out his taser, purposely misses, continuing the agitation, and now resulting to using his gun.. This cops are fucking dirty, shady, sleazy bags.

  4. If the officer was competent with his taser this could have possibly ended without shots fired. The officer went to tase him and the safety was still engaged on the taser then when he finally fires the taser he waits until the worst possible time when the man with the knife is holding a shirt or something of that kind in front of him making a barrier between the cop and the taser.

  5. If that had been a black man I’ll hell would be breaking right now. Why the fuck did the cop not tell anybody that he was shot. If this had been reversed and that was a black man everybody would be raising hell right now

  6. The cop is clearly racist. That young man was just headed to his daily cooking class. Wite peepole are being hunted by black cops.

  7. The libtards don’t know what to do with this one . Black cop shoots white dude then another black cops , ( a woman ) shows up to throw the bracelets on ! Awesome !

  8. Endlich mal jemand, der begriffen hat, dass ein Schuss reicht🤷‍♂️

  9. No reason to shoot him. Plenty of space to drop back and nobody else in the vicinity. No reason to close distance on him to make the shooting necessary.
Also, awful non existent first aid application.
    Overall, dismal police performance
Thankfully the man suffering in mental crisis was not also killed.

  10. One shot that’s all it took officers around America. Look that’s how you do it no need to unload your clip or need to have the hole damn department there for one man with a knife officer well done.
