Shiprock, New Mexico — This incident started in Shiprock, NM at approximately 1:25 p.m on July 11, 2021. The Navajo Police Department was notified of a subject, later identified as 36-year-old Shawn Thomas, brandishing a firearm at the Speedway Gas Station at US Hwy 64 and Hwy 491. While enroute, officers were notified the suspect left the scene in a blue Toyota Corolla. Navajo PD officers pursued the vehicle east on US Highway 64, at which time, the suspect traveled off the Navajo Nation where San Juan County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies intercepted the vehicle. After deputies successfully deployed stop sticks and deflated two tires, the vehicle came to a stop where deputies issued commands to exit the vehicle. The vehicle began driving again, traveling approximately 1.4 miles where he momentarily stops two different times.
Beginning to flee again, the suspect proceeds to do a U-turn where deputies observe Thomas point a firearm out the window as he begins to travel back west on US 64. The vehicle eventually stopped between the 33- and 34-mile markers. As SJCSO deputies approached the vehicle, the deputy at the rear of the vehicle observed a firearm in Thomas’ hand, pointed in the direction of his sergeant, and responded to the threat by firing at the subject. The vehicle began to drive off and eventually crashed into a tree and caught fire. Deputies extracted the suspect from the vehicle to render medical aid while EMS and SJC Fire & Rescue were enroute. The suspect, Shawn Thomas, did succumb to his injuries on location. No officers or uninvolved citizens were injured.

They said to leave the “gun†in the car. Car caught on fire??????? Coming from someone who supports law enforcement, that’s a bit weird.
That is the most pixel suspect I ever seen.
the cop shouldnt have fired his gun if the suspect didnt shoot
One less scumbag to have to worry about. Good job, officers!
I really like the police impalas (so much in fact that I own one) but those cars are hideous lol
The Sgt that had a gun pointed at him by the dirtbag telling the other officer to stop shooting must be a lib.
You can't kill a Toyota….driver YES, Toyota NO!
How is an idiots living in the USA???Go to the hell as soon as he can!
Actually this is in N.W
New Mexico San Juan county. 4 corner's region. Not Albuquerque. But within New Mexico. The guy is a piece of shit . Carjacker and pointed loaded weapons at families.
tupid is as tupid does……
Now this guy was asking for it. Taunting the police 🤦ðŸ»â€â™‚ï¸.
That one officer pulls out a taser to a closed window with a guy with a gun smart job
Poor car, Toyota’s best reliable car
I hope they got the gun out before the fire
He was just on.his way to school to become a doctor
So many things wrong with the tactics used. Amazed and glad no officers were injured.
These cops are incompetent. They had to disable the criminal's vehicle from the beginning.
Soooooo was the camery ok?
The officer with the taser… the window was up too – what were you going to do? The report indicated there was a gun. What a time to be in law enforcement.
I like to see this type of content since in my country you can not shoot the thieves without people there complaining about it because they did it, being that the thieves open fire or attempt against the life of the policeman, in fact sometimes they end up firing the policeman who killed or harmed the thief.
"Git the gun in the middle Council. Middle Council" … F_cking brilliant cop.
GREAT work on that Spike Strip!
What he lacked in brains, he made up for with his stupidity.
Nice to see that
Bien trabajo los oficiales…me gusta eso…
