Moreno Valley, California — On Friday, July 22, 2022, about 11:07 AM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a suspect claiming to have a gun and threatening to shoot someone at a business in the 15100 block of Perris Boulevard in Moreno Valley. When deputies got to the store, they found 49-year-old Jay Jackson in the parking lot, with one hand in his shorts pocket and told them he had a gun, the department said. Videos show deputies ordering Jackson to surrender, but he refused to comply. Video shows Jackson removing a handle of a Gillette razor from the front pocket of his shorts and charging toward a deputy who fired a single shot, hitting Jackson in the chest. Deputies performed lifesaving measures, but Jackson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

  1. Fired one shot… with a shotgun?!! And it wasn't a beanbag? Seriously, considering the backstop, wtf lethal cover with a shotgun? No wonder the chulo became chorizo… no big loss and saves society a lot of taxpayer dollars but… damn… a tad overkill there.

  2. Why do the dispatchers always sound so clueless?

    Dispatcher: "How long ago?"
    Caller: "A couple of minutes."
Dispatcher: "Like 5 minutes, 10 minutes?"
    Caller: "Like, 3 minutes."

    DUH!!!!

  3. They couldn’t have use non-lethal? This guy is obviously no threat. By obvious, you have 3 cops on site with heavy artillery and armory to protect themselves over a Shaving handle? Wow

  4. Those 911 calls are important people should always know what the cop was told goin into it. Callee said a gun not a razor handle.

  5. NO doubt, he wanted his life to end. Nothing more to live for, so he decided to go out, but said he didn't want innocent people hurt. He had some integrity…

  6. CAN WE PLEASE QUIT DIVERSITY HIRING PEOPLE FOR 911 OPERATORS. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HEARD THEM GET WHAT THE PERSON WAS TELLING THEM IN THE FIRST ATTEMPT AS IF THEY WEREN'T EVEN LISTENING TO THEM.

  7. Am I the only one who can't figure out from rewinding this 18 times who actually fired the single shot? Is there a video of muzzle flash, recoil, anything?
    Which view am I missing?

  8. Suicide by cop has to be the easiest way to do it. It's like a roller coaster, once you're on you don't get off till it's over. once the police are there, they aren't leaving till someone is dead or in jail.

  9. If you’re reporting a dangerous person who said something dangerous, do not paraphrase. Tell the dispatcher exactly what was said.
