Wolfe City, Texas — On October 3, 2020, at approximately 8:24 p.m., Wolfe City Police Officer Shaun Lucas, then 24-years old, responded to a disturbance call at the 100 block of Santa Fe Street for a possible fight in progress. Officer Lucas made contact with 31-year-old Jonathan Price, who was reportedly involved in the disturbance. Officer Lucas attempted to detain Price, who resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away. Officer Lucas deployed his TASER, followed by discharging his service weapon striking Price. EMS was notified and Price was transported to Hunt Regional Hospital, where he later died.
Lucas’ use of deadly force resulted in his arrest two days after the incident. He was fired and charged with murdering Price in October 2020, and his use-of-force response was deemed “not objectively reasonable” by the Texas Rangers after a review of the footage. On September 22, 2022, A Texas jury found former Wolfe City officer Shaun Lucas not guilty in the shooting death of Jonathan Price.

American cops crazy
If I was in that crowd of people this officer would be dead as a door knob I'd claim self defense cause he was brandishing a firearm in a deadly fashion…after I unloaded all three of my mags into this cop I would take a selfie with his body propping up his head like a trophy.. when back up would arrive I'd put my hands up and tell his partners how dumb of a cop they work with

What was the officer to do? The suspect was not complying, resisting, and grabbing at him. There could be a reasonable belief the officer could be in grave harm. Sorry, but this was justified. In the end, a Texas jury agreed.
Dude was trying to grab the taser, what do you think he was goin for next? Dude tried the old "trial by combat" and got sentenced. Im not even a cop fan boy its just obvious.

Yes, the guy should have stopped walking away and let himself be detained and questioned.
But quick draw Johnny went for that gun and shot point blank after the taser didn't fully work (happens a lot on here) and the guy turned around. I wouldn't classify it as "charging" at the cop.
The cop didn't seem to know his first aide techniques very well either.
I question that maybe the guy would have made it if the ambulance showed up quicker.
Jonathan Price really did not deserve this. But after reading his Facebook post, this turned out to be his bad wake up call. Just so sad.

Under the circumstances cops have to work and more and more people just take it to the edge, I think there was nothing wrong with this shooting. Comply and you won't get hurt.

It appears that the officer was only charged with murder (what degree I couldn‘t find), that was probably why he was found not guilty. He would have probably been convicted of a lesser charge.
Definitely NOT an officer we want paroling our streets. TRIGGER happy and cant deal with anyone.
"I can't be detained right now" Yea that's cause you keep walking away. Persoanlly I just feel like the officer was at his limit cause humans do have limits and just really didn't have that mental break people need especially in jobs like this. The way he sounded just made him seem like had no patience like he was dealing with a lot of stuff and it all boiled over

The primary goal for any officer should always be deescalation. This was the exact opposite of that. There was no imminent threat to anyone. No justifiable reason for the officer to turn it into far more than it was. A couple of guys in a fist fight the guy might have been a little tipsy, he was not acting violent or threatening. The officer initiated the violence.

His friends didnt help his situation, trying to help him get away then mad at the cop when suspect came at him.. Grow up kids.
But was it worth resisting. Bet he was thinking no in his final moments.
