The sergeant and cop should be fired. They violated civil rights and kidnapped a man for contempt of cop.

  1. this only happened because of the public outcry not because this department has any integrity. Im sure this is their regular routine and will happen again within the week. He still took up for these pigs when he said it wasnt ill intent. Blatant denial as it was nothing except ill intent.

  2. So, gross violation of an individual's Constitutional Rights, the highest law in the land, is only a policy violation? This Sheriff sucks and no amount of additional training prepares tyrants to respect the people. America is watching and we are disappointed in you, Sheriff.

  3. I live in Alachua county close the the Columbia county line. We refuse to travel to Lake City for anything because the cops are horrible and it’s really inbred in general.

  4. It just shows how they like to sweep the s*** under the rug they worry about the policy violations but they don't care about your civil rights two day suspension what a joke

  5. No trust as long as you back your thugs that commit crimes against the people who make your paychecks. Suspension isn’t good enough. Those officers should be charged with the same crimes that the average citizen would be facing if the roles were reversed.

  6. machine translation:.. in the future we will have our leo's turn off their body cams to avoid any further embarrassment.
they might can sweep this under a local rug,, but there is still the federal civil arena to deal with,, i bet their "apology" would mean a lot more if they wrote " were sorry" on the big check they would be smart to give the blind guy..

Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.

For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any. plus more see web page..

  7. Sheriff, shame on you. The corrective action you took was not enough with that female officer. Her ego and lack of control is going to be a problem. Two day suspension says you are just appeasing public outcry not really holding her accountable for her egregious actions

  8. Hopefully this criminal that just supported this unethical conduct but no serious actions loses the election and the ability to ever be in costume anywhere. These are the criminals we the people need off the streets and taxpayers welfare not on vacation to receive overtime to make up the pay later.

  9. They should be fired for kidnapping. That's what they've done. They didn't think they were doing the right thing, they knew deep down this was not constitutional policing. They didn't do their due diligence and just kidnapped a guy. He should get some compensation for being kidnapped and dealing with that distress and anxiety. Ridiculous. Glad he got demoted and won't be promoted for 2 years but he needs to NOT BE A COP. Now he has a chip on his shoulder and is gonna go get revenge on some auditor or something. Terrifying. Why would you allow him to continue working for your department when he kidnapped a man by the definition of what kidnapping is?

  10. Pignorance exists even in the chief. It was intentional not accidental that they violated this blind man’s rights.
