Neenah, Wisconsin — On August 2, 2023, members of the Lake Winnebago area MEG unit were trying to arrest 37-year-old Nathan Briese as part of an undercover operation. The MEG Unit officers performed a controlled drug buy from Briese. After the buy, officers followed Briese to the gas station, where they intended to arrest him. When law enforcement went into the gas station to arrest Briese, he ran toward the back of the store near the coolers. Briese reportedly “spun around quickly and pulled up his shirt in the front with one hand and that his other hand went toward his waist with his elbow flared out.”

The law enforcement officer observed a gun in Briese’s waistband. Authorities stated they felt Briese was going to kill them in the gas station, so they discharged their firearms, firing around two to three rounds. Briese continued moving around the back of the gas station and quickly came around the corner with his hands near his waistband. The authorities fired another two to three rounds at Briese, and Briese “crumpled to the floor.” First aid was rendered, and emergency services responded to the scene to transport Briese to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

  1. Has nothing to do with the legality of this shooting (it was clearly justified), but why in the world would you roll up to arrest someone in a mini-mart like that instead of waiting for him to leave and pulling him over with a felony stop?! They should be so thankful that no innocent people got caught in the crossfire.

  2. Inside or out, guy had a gun, guy was contained, guy tried to shoot them, guy is dead. No one else got hurt. Maybe some feelings by reading the comments. Also if you arent willing to put on the uniform, puss off, you dont know of you dont know.

  3. In Japan, "Marijuana is legal in the U.S. and the people are happy. Marijuana should be legalized in Japan as well."
In reality, however, Americans are not satisfied with marijuana, and they buy and sell prohibited drugs like him.
    This is the fact.

  4. Not a cop although I trained as one back in my 20's. But I have to think it would have been a lot safer to the public to get a warrant and raid his house. Of course that would have been more dangerous for the cops. Ergo ambush in a confined store. Glad the clerk didn't get killed. Although I'd think she has PTSD now. I didn't see the perp draw I saw him run and flop into the fetal position. If he did reach for his weapon then screw him, yet still stupid decision by police to do that in the store.

  5. If I was this guys family member I’d drag the pd through the court system so long as I lived , this was a blatant execution

  6. Overkill for some drugs. Put everyone in danger working or shopping. Couldve waited until he was in his car or outside. Pig wanted to kill someone.

  7. Was it 100% necessary for them to rush in and arrest him inside a private business? The shooting was justified. But it seems like they absolutely did not have an emergency reason to swarm that business and destroy their coolers and shut them down for who knows how many days after this. Not to mention traumatize the cashier.

  8. "They should've waited til he came out of the store. This seemed like an execution." You're defending a drug dealer who pulled a gun on cops? If they sit outside waiting, who's to say he doesn't see them & take the clerk hostage?

  9. At the end of the surveillance video, you can actually see the suspects gun slide across the floor to the officer. Wonder if he was trying to give it up, or trying to raise it to shoot.

  10. They weren't looking to arrest this man. If they did then they would've waited for him to come out.

Ice Cube said it best, "infiltrate the dealers, find the suppliers"

  11. What the actual F! This police department should be ashamed. This is NOT how to do it by any stretch
