Harvard almost rejected me for my views on Israel w/Ken Roth | The Marc Steiner Show – Everything Law and Order Blog

The censorship and purging of critics of Zionism is a longstanding phenomenon in US academia. And a recent incident with Ken Roth, former executive director of Human Rights Watch, shows even the mildest criticism of Israel can have professional repercussions. Ken Roth joins The Marc Steiner Show to discuss his ordeal with the Harvard Kennedy School.

  1. Please try to get an interview with Julian Assange's father, John Shipton.
Failing that I'd love to you interview John Pilger on press freedom, propaganda and freedom of speech.

  2. Important to make the distinction between Zionism and Judaism, especially since Israel is supposed to be the Jewish state.

  3. Fighting the “threats to rights wherever they come from with the exception of the United States”. That sounds about right.

  4. FYI: I will NOT be listening to this interview with a privileged racist psychopath. Boo Hoo. Will return to RNN when you come to your senses.

  5. Much of what he says makes sense. However, when he says he “independent” and then lambastes Iran, China and Russia, without doing the same to his home country- I wonder about his neutrality.

  6. Lord Jakobovits, Chief Rabbi of Britain from 1967 onwards wrote in 1982 during Israel's invasion of Lebanon

'By charging people with anti semitism, you help to breed anti semitism. You give aid and comfort to the real anti semites and their movements and you alienate true friends.'
    ♥️🇮🇪🕊

  7. Right into the Holocaust and antisemitism from the get go. They cannot help themselves. A lifetime of indoctrination

  8. Glad that he criticizes Israel and Zionism in particular, but this man has uninformed and stupid views on U.S./NATO aggression against Russia and China.

  9. This guy Roth is selling the democracy vs. autocrats lie. He can be ignored. Don't Max Blumenthal and Brian Berletic call Human Rights Watch a fake NGO?

  10. I wonder how one can have a balanced perspective on the genocide of Palestinians. Why should there be a state that has to maintain a national/ethnic character at the expense of the natives? Israel does not have a right to exist.

  11. Great to hear a Jewish opinion who is an honest critic of Israel. An academic, Tim Anderson at Sydney Uni, lost his job because of his criticism of Israel.

  12. I can't believe BOTH of you said "it's Complex", really? with all respect (and u just lost that). Was Slavery "complex"? was Native Amerikans in USofKKK "complex"? CIA/South Afrika (of which now we have Musk) "complex"? hell naw…

  13. The "crazies" in Iran?

Nobody can criticize finance capital/banks without being called an anti-Semite, but I see the (capitalist) compatible left has no problem with this insulting, reductive, & xenophobic State Dept talking point. Smh.

Y'all should thank Chris Hedges/PAR for keeping this operation afloat, bc everything else on this network is … not good.

  14. This is one of those "touchy subjects" to discuss. I'm glad to see Ken Roth had the courage 💪 to speak up for human rights in Palestine 🇵🇸. Thanks Marc Steiner & TRNN ❤️👍

  15. Being rejected because of your views on Isreal is wrong. But so is the rejection of academics with conservative views. Something that's been accepted as standard practice for years. We need to take politics out of academia and encourage diversity of opinions.

  16. Mr. Roth is a political animal! Notice how he only talked about Russian atrocities. He didn’t mention how Ukraine was bombing its own people because they preferred Russian government over the absolutely corrupt Ukrainian government. Also, notice how he talks about only Trump and Biden. He wants you to forget about all the atrocities caused by Obama and Bush Junior. Or the atrocities America caused in south America during the 70s and 80s. This guy has a spine of Jell-O!

  17. Yet another American claiming China is a threat to the world. Check the maps – its America forming a ring of military bases around China and now that they have provoked Russia into attacking Ukraine, they are trying to provoke China into attacking Taiwan.

  18. If you're gonna talk about or write about dislike/hatred of Jews use the terms "anti-Jewish" & "anti-Jew". Not only will you be accurate but you will also sound modern.

  19. Wow, what a disappointing interview. I'm not that familiar with Marc Steiner or this liberal educator at Harvard, a boss at Human Rights Watch… But, clearly, both are liberals (i.e., pro-capitalists or non-anti-capitalists). Both engaged in Democrat Party apologism, apologism for US/NATO imperialism. And, basically, amplified establishment narratives, when it comes to US foreign policy.

It's good that the Harvard educator is willing to criticize Zionist Israel. Anti-Zionism is NOT Anti-Semitism.

But it's very revealing when liberals, like these guys, talk about a rise in authoritarianism, but emphasize Republicans, but let the Democrats off the hook. It's very revealing when people talk about authoritarianism without talking about the inverted totalitarianism in the USA (cf. Sheldon S. Wolin, Democracy Incorporated: Managed Democracy and the Specter of Inverted Totalitarianism)

It's also very revealing when people talk about authoritarianism and totalitarianism, but refuse to talk about the authoritarianism involved in mandating cytotoxic gene therapy drugs masquerading as vaccines. (cf. The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr; COVID-19 and the Global Predators: We Are the Prey by Peter Breggin and Ginger Ross Breggin; The Wuhan Cover-Up: How US Health Officials Conspired with the Chinese Military to Hide the Origins of COVID-19 by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr; etc.)

These guys are shielding the corporate Democrat Party, shielding big pharma authoritarianism, medical apartheid, shielding US imperialism… Wow… I expected more from The Real News Network…

I did notice recently Maximillian Alvarez talking about COVID-19 recently in a video about labor without mentioning any of the VAERS data or the tens of thousands, who have died after being injected with the mRNA jabs. That was disappointing, too. I guess the Real News Network is afraid of truth-seeking when it comes to certain issues.

  20. Our nation has been on a steady right wing move since 1980 with no let up by Democratic presidents who all continued that right wing move up to and including Biden who broke the railroad union strike. There is no nation that Biden "cares about" where democracy has been supported by Biden instead of undermined. This language of Russia being an "unaccountable dictator" is delusional CIA propaganda. This guy has no understanding of what human rights really is.

  21. Great video as always, congrats on reaching massive Subs and I thank you for breaking it down once again!! Despite the economic recession, I'm so happy 😊I have been earning $80,000 returns from my $10,000 investment on short period
