  1. this guy is an idiot. he doesn't know what double consciousness means and hes BLACK….he was trying so hard to use any many words as he could think of and somehow explained nothing. how does white hedges understand this more than you do black man,?,,ps. it doesn't have anything to do with africa,,,tryng so hard to prove his "intellect' to the white man…

  2. W.E.B. Dubious unfortunately has all but been forgotten. However, I believe all true scholars find him eventually. I highly recommend reading Professor Gerald Horne's work. A fine historian.

  3. What about Hubert Henry Harrison?

I never heard of him until his book, When Africa Awakes, turned up in public domain, PG.

I voluntarily read Souls of Black Folks in high school in the 60s and wondered, "Why do I keep hearing about this antiquated stuff?"

Black Man's Burden by Mack Reynolds is actually more thought provoking even though it is fiction from a White man.

When are palefaces going to figure out that planned obsolescence is just a high technology form of slavery? What is the annual depreciation of automobiles?

  4. Sorry… but this guy is the driest, most trivial and didactic guest who has ever been on. Isn't he a classroom professor? He ought to develop a better delivery.

  5. W.E.B. Dubois was a sellout. He challenged the greatest black leaders of his time, Booker T. Washington and Marcus Garvey who gave black people hope. Dubois did absolutely nothing for black people. He started the Talent Tenth the so called black elite, we call the Boule, gatekeepers for White Supremacist. Their job was to control the black vote and keep black people divided.

  6. Thank you Chris Hedges and Professor Gerald Horne, for this discussion on W. E. DuBois.
I listened to this before, but evidently did not leave a comment.
Again, with the deepest appreciation and respect to both of you for allowing all of us to grow with more understanding.
For I love American history on all sides and I read many books by men and women who exercise both sides so the truth is exposed.

  7. Treacherous w.e.b. dubois was the ultimate biracial individuals before obummer – helping gay edgar hoover undermine The Honorable Marcus Garvey and help keep Black self determination and Black self sufficiency under control of the small hats – then crawled his treacherous old azz to Ghana and die – typical biracial dude –

  8. If all these black leaders are NAACP and thats was founded by men from the German Empire at the time and Dubois is coming from France and trained in Berlin and the talented tenth supported Dubois then the Nazi rise up and take France does that mean the Talented tenth supported The Nazi's rise to power before and leading up to the world wars and subverted there own people if they are NAACP(founded by Germans) and Boule which is French???

  9. This guy made alot of incorrect assumptions and should be heavily scrutinized. Think about the concept of "blacks" being from Africa, that was in the 1500s do you realize how many regime overthrows it has been and bank reforms and consolodation of companies, countries and head of state, Monarchs from France to Scottland to England to Prussia. So many trustess and grantors so many assisnated legislature and name swaps, eugenics and Massacres, Financials, Special interest, Propoganda, Nazi's, Missing gold, confiscated property Good luck beleiving in guys like this. He's most defiantly a mark, so is the German ran NAACP and the Frenchmen Dubois… Fabian Socialist more than likely.

  10. That’s real soft and weak to not want to face ur bad deeds. REAL COWARDOUS
!!! THAT SAME COWARDLY SPIRIT WILL FURTHER COST THIS EMPIRE

  11. See that pisses me of to hear them talk about our capabilities when that’s part of the make believe bs that they MADE UP about us

  12. Because it is conflict theory, conflicts within the social dynamics of any capitalistic society, The black Republicans of that time did not respect or even SPEAK Du Bois name during the late 1800 to 1900's. No one wanted to work with a Marxist who Idolized karl Marx. Theres a 40 years of African American history these so called Du Bois loving intellectuals are all getting paid to never speak about!

  13. I would like to know who else does he know that were just as vocal and effective as a black leader during the late 1800 to early 1900's…..Du bois is exaggerated

  14. Ευχαριστώ θα φροντίσω να βοηθήσω με όλην την δύναμη μου και προ πάντων πιο συνετά Χρίστος Γ. ΛΟΎΚΑ

  15. The Black community has never recovered from the prolific impact of left politics on the African-American community throughout the United States. Booker T Washington built the most effectual educational institute of his Era. The ability to put food on your table through honest labor was part of the legacy of Booker T Washington.

  16. Dubois got it wrong in regards to Booker T. Washington. Washington rightly understood that African Americans would never be 100% accepted into White society. So the goal was for us to build our own and the means of which to do so was through education. Fast forward today I would submit to you that by casting down Booker T's way forward and accepting the false promise of integration African Americans have been set backwards. Nothing substantial has changed for us. If Dubois was alive today he would even have to admit that the plight of African Americans as a whole is probably even worse now than it was then especially in regards to economic advancement and education. Sure we have a few political leaders but those positions never translate into policies that actually help African Americans.

  17. Booker T. Washington was spot on…Those vocational skills would pay a lot of money in modern times… Carpenters and Plumbers and Brick Masons and Electricians pay a lot of money today …Which would be valuable skills passed down from generation to generation…Dubois was idealistic but completely naive… Enough said.

  18. WEB du Bois was from the privileged classes and didn't care a whit about poor blacks or whites. He demonstrated this when hob knobbing with a host of communist mass murderers world wide.

  19. W.e.b. dubois stopped marcus Garvey operations to go back to Africa. Then in his later years dubois moved to africa???Africa???? Hes no hero. The naacp was founded by white Jewish men.

  20. WEB Duboise was a great writer and advocate for the equality of black people but he had to evolve to that position. as he initially saw himself as a mixed race person not particularly black. He had to come to grips with his blackness after he was attacked by the U.S.Govt. as Anti American.
Professor Horne has been very kind to Dr.Duboise for not mentioning that Duboise was an anti Black Nationalist and helped to undermined the. Nationalist Marcus Garvey and his movement, He did a great disservice to Garvey's reputation and legitimacy in a vicious conspiracy to discredit him along with other integrationist as A. Phillip Randolph.

Duboise was no more eloquent that Garvey in defending the honor and dignity of African people in writing or lecture.
Let's have a documentary on Garvey for fairness.

  21. Anyone outside the privileged white Anglo Saxon race knows the limits as dictated by the white privileged class. Brown, black Asian and all indigenous peoples plus women of all colors even white, learn the consciousness that this program addresses. The greater the discrimination the more the second consciousness is necessary to live and fine a modicum of success.

  22. Thank you Chris it's so good to get to learn about these brave and brilliant Black men from the history of your Country 🇺🇸👍🏽

  23. Thank you so much for this interview with Gerald Horne and reflections from you both about the great WEB DuBois. Living in Atlanta, where DuBois lived and taught for a while, his work and advocacy for justice are constantly on the radar screen for activists in the south and, of course, the work continues!!!
