Voters in Orange County, Florida overwhelmingly approved a charter amendment granting rights to their main waterways. Chuck O’Neal of the Florida Rights of Nature Network and Thomas Linzey of the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights joined TRNN on Election Day to discuss how regulation of environmental destruction isn’t enough to protect ecosystems for future generations.

  1. 4 Dislikes, what the heck is that about, I wonder. Of course everyone should want natural waters to be protected, plus a lot more about wild Nature. I wish these Floridians success with achieving proper legislation aimed at protecting the natural wild environment.

  2. Way to go FL. Now about FL's real issue. Fear of losing control in a country that honors a Constitution that subjugates people of color and Black people in particular.

  3. The measure passed with 89% of the vote. Previously the Legislature had sneaked thru a bill to pre-empt the Rights of Nature — at the behest of the Farm Bureau! So disregard the will of the people and go with the money. Typical. Floridians need to vote the a**holes responsible OUT!
