Constitutionally, the sheriff is not a law enforcement officer. The office of sheriff exists ONLY to protect the rights of the citizens of the county from federal and state overreach and guaranteeing the integrity of the county courts. That's it. Other than serving lawfully executed warrants, they are not supposed to have arrest powers outside of county property. If our sheriffs won't protect our rights, WHO WILL?
As long as police have a union, QUALIFIED IMMUNITY, and prosecutors who refuse to bring charges, there are literally no limits to deadly force.
