  1. What a farce …

    Democrats got caught again!

…. I was born poor & unprivileged with a single parent!
Racial Equity is yet another scam of communist ideology to implore globalism as the standard of the New Order!
Reverse discrimination is hypocritical, biased, misleading & not factual!
Don't deny it! Stereo typing is just wrong altogether!

  2. Because some celebrities paid off schools to get their kids in college, the few instances where a wealthy family might make a donation to get their kid into a college, you are going to generalize and say that this problem is systemic? Do you think all the Asians and Indians are paying off schools to get their kids in?

  3. We have free higher education here, and your test scores determine where you get in. The problem with such a merits based system for the poorer classes is that these young people don't exist in a resource rich environment, but competes with people from the higher classes with these resources. Resources can for instance be having parents with higher education who can help by repeating key parts of the curriculum in a way that the student can better understand. These parents could also if they wish take more time off work during critical periods to be more available to help and support their kids, something parents from poorer classes obviously can't.

  4. I like the hypocrisy here . You should be against favouritism full stop , This isn't a time to defend affirmative action ( aka other form of corruption ) more like to denounce both and have some principles

  5. Americans should just move already to blind merit based system , where you just pass an admission exam and best students get picked , Any form of favouristim , either based on skin color or in this case daddy and mommy money needs to be removed from any system pretending to be merit based

  6. Ivy League is discriminating against Asians probably because they want room for the rich white people who are bribing to be admitted.

  7. Not your best story as you started out. The super rich will get in. It is the wannabees trying to put the fix in for their kids. The only politician, leaders of " The System" that care (give a damn) about ordinary people's aspirations are those who come from the lower classes. Like I say this is old news.

  8. If I was an employer I would be thinking twice about recruiting anyone from one of these schools. You wouldn't know what you were getting.

  9. Hang on, how "smart" do you have to be to go to business school? Business schools are as common as dirt. If you had to be smart there would be five or six of them. There are alot of umbelievably stupid MBAs.

  10. Dr. Horne briefly mentioned examples of the ruling elite’s stunning ineptitude. Their inability to see their results as blunders is a feature of the ruling ideology: If the the best and the brightest are running the system, then whatever happens is the best (or least bad) that could have happened. Thus, there is no need to punish or even question financiers for the 2008 financial collapse, generals and intelligence directors for the 9/11 attacks, or military-industrial-technology moguls and their Congressional lackeys for the endless foreign wars. With each disaster, the “experts” running the system gain valuable experience and, therefore, remain the most qualified to continue managing it. Viewed from inside the ruling ideology, things are going as well as reasonably can be expected. So, don’t worry. Be happy.

  11. This college admission scandal is a mess, but please keep in mind that not all students who go to elite colleges are rich. I know from personal experience that Yale and Harvard, for example, offer generous financial aid packages that allow non-rich students (such as my sons who went to a rural public high school) to attend without having to take out any student loans. I have also met the children of wealthy people attending these schools, and guess what, they are extremely smart.

  12. University must admit students with highest marks, not by percentage reserves for whites, black or brown, no races discrimination. If no whites qualify to enter,so be it,just accept students with the highest scores,no matter of races, black or brown and that the fairness for studying hard.

  13. Is Paul Jay pretending not to be aware of the details and significance of this case? While the system has been rigged all along to benefit the wealthy – i.e., the funding of university wings to massively increase chances of a child's admission – this scandal reveals a whole new level of corruption – the use of racketeering, fraud, bribery, to guarantee admission. Democracy Now did a much better job covering this. At its core, this is about class – and a pattern of the super wealthy brazenly cheating and stealing from the rest of us. A number of the parents charged in this case are investment and securities CEOs and real estate executives likely also involved in the crashing of the global economy in 2008.

  14. Paul you look great in a suit, you should spiffy up for every show. Dr. Horne…outstanding. You see, American society has been repeating a 400 year old lie about us brown folk and the bell curve, insisting we are not as innately intelligent. Not only do the elites bribe their way into school, they invest billions in test prep and private tutors to give their kids an edge at test time. This is much more common than the bribery and "donations" method to get into Harvard. As we speak there are white folks with civil rights lawsuits claiming reverse discrimination, insisting that unqualified blacks are taking their slots 🙂
