  1. The New Deal refers to a collection of domestic policies enacted 1933-38. New Deal initiatives stopped when the GOP won big in the 1938 midterms.
Parts of the New Deal were overturned by the SCOTUS during the 1930s, and this had nothing to do with Truman. The only significant Truman era action that can be interpreted as an "undoing of the New Deal" was the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947, which became law over Truman's veto. I am surprised that there never was a concerted effort to repeal Taft-Hartley during Truman's second term, or under JFK or LBJ.
Henry Wallace was put on the ticket in 1940 when Middle America was not paying attention. He was taken off the ticket in 1944, when Demo insiders learned the truth about FDR's health. That truth meant that the Demo Veep elected in 1944 would very likely become POTUS. The Cold War made a leftish dove like Henry Wallace unelectable.

  2. Truman was an average guy, not an educated man wi a quick temper "
    Give 'em hell, Harry"
LBJ used "N" word" too, however he signed Civil Rights.
I love picture of FDR with a ciggie – poor Obama had to hide in men''s room. Ok to kill a million people but dont smoke lol Idiocracy.

  3. Not to beat a dead horse but I want this guys take on how does the Left make it’s way back to an FDR Left (vs a Clintononian).
I know their strategy is to let the right go crazy until people chose as Clinton wants (“they have nowhere else to go”)….and as such would have no need to reform

  4. Real News, thanks for Peter Kuznick's concise exposé of our recent history. The history of the 20th century is a dense prologue to what we face. I took a course in it four years ago at a CSU. It was very weak on ideas and analysis but chocked with data, dates, people and places.

  5. Thank you for this. It helps show the persistent struggle of forces acting for noble and nefarious interests has been ongoing. The balances fell heavily onto the wrong side and it didn't happen just yesterday. No matter the nuisances, the present day results and current attitudes show this history is largely valid.

  6. Every thinking person realizes that the atomic bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki was to save lives but also, & more importantly, to be a warning to Stalin not to go against Truman's United States and the powers behind Truman that wanted to scare the Americannoeopke so much against Communism that the New Deal Truman and his supporters never fully supported could be dismantled and a new profitable military industrial.profit making complex could succeed. Very tragic that the American people fell for this awful travesty in their stupidity.

  7. It's a very tragic period of US history. The heinousness of the or some of the powerfully influential "elites" against Henry A. Wallace seems to have initiated the path of the US to what we know of it today and that's that it's rogue state. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_state Quote: " Rogue state or outlaw state is a term applied by some international theorists to states they consider threatening to the world's peace. This means being seen to meet certain criteria, such as being ruled by authoritarian or totalitarian governments that severely restrict human rights, sponsoring terrorism and seeking to proliferate weapons of mass destruction.[7] … ". Well, then, I'd extend the definition to include nationally rogue, to not leave any possible interpretation as to it being only about international conduct. The US became both; undeniably so. It evidently would've been great if there hadn't been incredibly excessive opposition to Henry A. Wallace. That opposition was extremely shameful.

  8. Operation Paperclip brought over the psychopath cabal from Germany. It was a gang of psychopaths. These individuals don't play fair, they murder you in the middle of the night, they cheat, they lie, they cause false flags, that's what psychopaths do.

People don't understand that a nuclear weapon isn't the WMD, the psychopathic brain is, that's the brain that rationalizes uses them and mass producing them and instituting constant war.

The "belief" system to a psychopathic brain is power, control, constant war, genocide, etc. His qualification was the geometry of his brain, the sick psychopathic geometry of his brain. Everyone who doesn't share his brain geometry is an "other" who needs to be nuked. That's the psychopathic cabal. Every situation is them ending up in a bunker and trying to murder everyone else. Every single time. Any society that isn't 100% psychopaths is always "overpopulated" and needs to be "culled".

"The Left" simply means non-psychopaths. The "right" (psychopath infiltrated) needs to murder that. That's their MO. That's their A1 NICHE. Murder and genocide is their niche.

  9. Most people like Morning Joe blame the excessive protectionism of Smoot-Hawley for the bad economy of the 1930s, and that's partially true, but that bad economy was primarily the first fearful reactionary capital flight from the tech boom following the first world war. The excessive protectionism was a reaction to that capital flight. It was the wrong reaction because it was so excessive that it greatly exacerbated problems, but the root of the Great Depression was global capital flight. Remember FDR confiscated corporate gold during that time for the same reason.
Similar forms of capital flight hurt economies today. Offshore tax havens hurt economies while also reducing tax revenue. Crypto shows how much cheaper and faster finance can be without banks middlemanning everything, but it's also a capital drain that wastes power to increase energy costs for everyone. Investment in real estate makes living in the area more expensive. Precious metals do nothing but remove capital from the economy. None of these means of saving or investing does anything productive like investing to develop good ideas or harness natural resources. Developing technology is how we all advance. It is among the great shames of Western civilization and capitalism that we have usually developed technology on a large scale only to fight wars.

  10. This brings back memories from my childhood. My mom was raised in a Republican household, and my dad was one of the family whose own father came to the USA at age 13 from Poland. My Dad was a Democrat.
I still remember the two of them discussing politics. I listened to a lot of these conversations and found that I was more like my dad than my mom in politics.

  11. My father, who is an educated man and knows History, still claims that there is a huge "Left" in America. He claims to believe that criminals such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton etc. are "Leftists." I tell him that there is no Left in America, and he tells me I'm an idiot and that I have "lost my mind." He lived through the McCarthy Era, the Cold War and the dismantling of the Left, and still believes that Barack Obama, one of our most Right Wing Presidents, was a Leftist. I know he knows better, but he has listened to Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and the like, for years, and watches Fox News 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He and my mother wake up to Fox News, fall asleep with Fox News on, and listen to it all throughout the day. They're some of the most misinformed, politically, geo-politically, economically, historically ignorant people that can be found anywhere. You can't even have a civil discussion with them on anything, without being called "Anti-American" and being told that you "hate America." So disheartening. But this is what we're up against People!!

  12. I'd only add Truman didn't make a mistake, he sold out to commercial interest, he was a local corrupt machine politician from his first election.

  13. This guy is a "useful idiot" for the establishment as a history teacher; he has an excellent command of the obvious! He IS (without knowing perhaps) a key mechanism of Consent!

  14. Because of this history with Democrats, I'm not feeling very optimistic about 2020. The corrupt wing of the party has controlled it for a very long time and will lie, cheat, and steal to get it's way.
