San Diego, California — On December 7, 2023, at about 10 p.m., the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) received information of a reported stolen vehicle, a prior domestic violence incident, and an unserved Emergency Protection Order (EPO). Through their investigation, they received information on the suspect, 46-year-old Curtis Harris, and that he was a felon known to carry a firearm. Around midnight, officers attempted to contact Harris in the shopping plaza in the 10500 block of 4S Commons Drive in San Diego. Harris was armed with a handgun and fired multiple rounds at different officers, striking a sergeant in the head.

Another round struck a police vehicle. Harris’ actions prompted three officers to discharge their firearms. Multiple rounds struck Harris. He went to the ground and his loaded firearm was near him. Additionally, a loaded magazine was found on him. Officers rendered medical aid to Harris and he was transported to the hospital by paramedics. Harris was later pronounced deceased. The sergeant has been identified as Sergeant Anthony Elliott and he is in stable condition and still receiving treatment. He has been on the department approximately 6 years. The officers have been identified as Officer Tanarat Crowe (approximately 1 year of service), Officer Darrion Talalele (approximately 10 months) and Officer Trevor Wright (approximately 1.5 years). 1.

  2. Actually really sad when the Officer starts asking “wait, where’s the Sgt.. “ and finds him in the carts laying there.

  3. I always find it interesting that all these video that list the officers service times always seem low. There could be many reasons for that like low retention rates because simply people don’t want to continue this line of work, which is understandable but I guess it could also be that the more senior officers get promoted up to where they no longer are on the streets. Maybe somebody who is from this field can explain that.

The longest tenured one I seen was 9 years listed and that is an extreme outlier compared with the rest. 9 years to me would be a veteran officer but still pretty early in what I would think is a career.

  4. developers need to give normal street names so nobody has to spell shit like "T A L L U S G L E N" when they're calling 911.

  5. Yo that officer, taking mental notes on who was in his team, and when someone was missing he immediately starting asking where the Sgt was. That is a future sgt in the making. Respect for that officer. Caring for his own.

  6. Other countries don't even need the jokes about the USA. They're just seeing a reality on the internet and what this country has turned into. It's a war zone.
