Reno, Nevada — On December 6, 2023, around 10:45 a.m., officers with the Reno Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Colorado River Blvd. on multiple reports of a woman frantically screaming for help saying a man inside her house was killing another woman. When officers arrived, they found the suspect, 34-year-old Caleb Briggs inside a home. After contact was made with Briggs, RPD says he could be seen holding his right hand behind his back and refusing the verbal commands given by the officer. Briggs then charged towards and attacked the officer as de-escalation attempts were being made. During the fight, Briggs tried to take the officer’s gun, however, the officer retained control of it before shooting Briggs twice in the doorway of the home. More officers arrived on scene and performed first aid on Briggs until paramedics arrived. Briggs was taken to the hospital where he later died.

3:46 is where the officer drew his gun, got punched at, and then fired. If you go frame by frame (, and . keys), you can see the only time the suspect could have had a hand near the holster, the officer had both his hands up against the suspect's body. This tells me the officer was in no way attempting to retain his gun against someone trying to take it.
I don't think he grabbed the gun at all. I think the office, who was actually winning the fight, had decided to shoot this guy. That's why he kept firing as the suspect was moving away from him.
This drives me crazy as a LEO someone needs to be keeping an eye on the inside of the house while he's being placed in cuffs, this is safety 1-0-1
