Tomball, Texas — On December 23, 2023, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies were working an approved extra employment job at a bar and grill in the 23200 block of Tomball Parkway in Northwest Harris County. At approximately 12:50 a.m., the deputies were notified of a disturbance in the parking lot involving several men. Security personnel informed the deputies that one of the men displayed a hand gun and was threatening others with the weapon. The deputies were given a description of the man with the firearm. The deputies then walked outside and located a man matching the suspect’s description. The suspect later identified as 24-year-old Chance Roux. The deputies verbally commanded Roux to drop his weapon and show his hands. Roux did not comply with the verbal commands. One Deputy fired his duty weapon several times, striking Roux. The deputies requested EMS and rendered aid until paramedics arrived and took Roux to the hospital for treatment. He was later released and booked into the Harris County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division conducted the investigation and charged Roux with:
– aggravated assault against a public servant – one count
– aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – four counts.

  1. "The deputies verbally commanded Roux to drop his weapon and show his hands. Roux did not comply with the verbal commands. One Deputy fired his duty weapon several times, striking Roux" the police yelled "drop" as they were shooting at him

  2. "The deputies verbally commanded Roux to drop his weapon and show his hands" once again police lying on reports to cover themselves.

  3. This may or may not be a bad shoot. Can't tell. However I suspect it was seeing the guy who got shot got hit with a bogus charge of Agg Assault on a LEO. I smell some CYA BS

  4. Never pull you gun out in public even if it's to protect yourself or family. If there's a police officer anywhere around you and he sees you it's a death sentence

  5. Scream "Get down on the ground" and pump the guy full of bullets before you finish the sentence ? Sorry, that is not justified. And not even on police duty.

  6. Wait, what? I think this video/description is missing some context… I’m failing to see the opportunity for the guy to put down the firearm, much less acknowledge the presence of police. All the cop said was, “Drop!” & immediately fired a volley of shots. Furthermore, if there was a physical altercation where it was 2-on-1, the deployment of lethal force by the individual who was shot should be justifiable.

  7. I mean he should not have used a gun to try to break up a fight, but he didn't shoot it or shoot anyone.

That cop in the cowboy hat came around the corner already ready to put someone down fast and hard, and I don't know that any reasonable person would have enough time to submit to his requests, ESPECIALLY given that the guy who gets shot is tense af from breaking up a fight with a gun and might be expecting friends of the 2 fighters to have guns.

I don't think I like this shoot tbh.

Edit : I've watched it several times at .25x , the police never announce themselves as police, and I believe he mistook the police for shooters, like I said originally.

I will say at about the 10 second mark you can see the guy raise his pistol right before he gets shot, but I don't think the police did their due diligence in establishing their presence before firing.
