Bradley Beach, New Jersey — On November 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., the Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida showed up unexpectedly to a traffic accident on Main Street, where the driver was later charged with DWI. The chief was not in uniform and dressed casually, and the sergeant, William Major said he was “drunk again,” according to the report. The police chief tried to take the Sgt. Major away from the scene to criticize him for wearing a jacket with peeling police lettering. In the footage, the chief is heard saying, “Why do you got a jacket on that’s not fit to be worn?”

The chief and sergeant ended up on the hood of a patrol car during the altercation, with someone heard saying, “You grabbed me.” Sgt. Major is also heard on video saying, “He’s drunk again … Chief, get out of here or you are going to get locked up.” The chief then is heard telling Sgt. Major he’s relieving him of his duties, saying, “You’re suspended.” Sgt. Major was later allowed to resume his full job responsibilities. After the Monmouth County Prosecutor Office’s investigation, Guida was placed on paid administrative leave. His position as chief pays a salary of $202,500, according to state pension records.

  1. The "Chief" would've been arrested for public intoxication, asault on a leo, and interferring with a governmental operation. I may ultimately lose my job but I will NOT be intimidatied by bullying.
Then there's the lawsuit I would file for a plethora of various civil offenses.
    He wanted to fk around……

  2. That chief is a disgrace!!! He should be charged with OWI if he drove there, charged with official misconduct, interfering with official investigation. forget resigning.

  3. The Sergeant fucked up by over-reacting and practically suplexing the drunk chief on the car hood after a non-aggressive "hey you" touch. That has all got to be an incredible frustrating situation but he should have controlled his emotions better, been the bigger man, and just walked away to swear out a warrant or ask another officer to arrest him. There was no reason to physically escalate the situation like that.

  4. some people cant think straight when they are drunk and that is bad enough, the worst thing is that when sober he suspended the officer who was well with in his right.
It is a frightening thought that after all of that he only got a three month PAYED suspension, apparently interfering with the police investigating a crime and grabbing a cop from behind is punishable by "payed vacation"!

  5. Is this Chief a zionist another dual national ruining our country. They lie so good but are so weak no balls just deception lies and propaganda

  6. I'm not even a cop and this infuriates me. Cop was just trying to do his job. Literally showed up to a scene trying to work. This chief was a distraction.

  7. The sergeant was the OIC (Officer in Charge). As such he had command of the scene. Other officer’s junior, peer or even senior cannot countermand orders given by the OIC. The OIC should only be relieved due to health, incompetence, negligence or safety reasons. This is known as Field Command.

In this case, the sergeant was well within his authority to order the drunken chief to leave the scene. When the chief went hands-on on the sergeant, the sergeant had to act. The chief couldn’t suspend the sergeant since he was drunk and therefore, was in no capacity to act like a command officer.

Based on the bodycam, apparently, this wasn’t the first time that the chief was drunk in public.

  8. Never read fiction. Real life stuff…now that's a eye full every day.

Imagine being a drunk chief…coaching your team through a DWI-DUI?

    ROTFL.
