B-roll footage of U.S. Marine Corps tank crewmen of an M1A1 Abrams, featuring episodes inside the tank turret and point of view, firing the 120mm smoothbore cannon and the M2 .50 caliber machine gun during a live-fire exercise for their semiannual crew qualifications.
A tank’s success on the battlefield is defined by the teamwork of its four crewmen, who each play a vital role. The mission cannot be completed without every member. Each crewman has a specific yet equally important job required to operate the vehicle.
On the 21th of May 2021 the Marine Corps deactivated its final active-duty tank battalion. The deactivation was part of a larger restructuring of the Marine Corps as part of the Commandant’s Force Design 2030 initiative.
