Austin, Texas — On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 4:28 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officer Dalton Schroeder and officer Jason Wright responded to a Check Welfare Urgent call at 6865 East US 290 Highway Service Road EB. The officers arrived and located a child that was choking. Relatives told the officers that the boy was choking on candy. Officer Schroeder quickly utilized his personal anti-choking device and applied lifesaving techniques on the child, bringing him back to normal breathing.

Be with your loved ones or helping or being in the moment. If, heaven forbid, this didn't turn out as positive, would you have spent it on the phone or being with your loved one? You can call people after the ordeal is over.
