Albuquerque, NM – Albuquerque Fire/Rescue were dispatched to an ATV accident on the west side of town. When they arrived they found a female lying on the ground by herself unconscious and barely alive. Witnesses told the rescuers that the female was driving an ATV with a male passenger at an extremely high rate of speed on the roadway. At some point the ATV tried to negotiate a curve in the road but lost control and it hit a residential wall launching both the driver and rider into the open field. The male immediately regained consciousness and tried to turn his ATV upright and requested the assistance of one of the witnesses. The witness complied and the male driver tried to drag his unconscious wife onto the ATV so they could leave the scene. The witness insisted that the male not take his wife so there would be no further injury to her. The male agreed then rode away abandoning his wife. Rescue was suspicious about the circumstances and called Police to the scene. Rescue was also handed a loaded handgun recovered from the area which appeared to belong to the couple on the ATV. When Police arrived and were being briefed by rescue they witnessed the male returning on foot with a change of clothes and he was bleeding profusely from a large gash to his head. Police detained the male and determined a much bigger investigation needed to happen.

This guy has a terrible head injury. True instant TBI right there
Yeah, this is a misleading title to video.
Old at 40….PLEASE!😮😂
Something's going on with him not wanting to go to the hospital. Is that a bullet wound and his head? Did he get rid of something in his car? There has to be some kind of backstory going on. He seems very uninterested in his wife to leave her like that and why was he trying to drag her into the car. It is not making sense concussion or not
This guy has major head trauma despite him walking around and talking. Idk why 1st responding Paramedics didn't immediately send him to the hospital.
He is NOT a cop ot Pilot he is a helicopter mechanic that services the pd chopper. The video title is driving myself crazy
He leaves his wife injured and almost dead??
The only thing they teach well in the police department is how to cover up their crimes as you can see in full display. He ditched his own wife to put away the a TV and probably pop and Adderall to level him out. Which is a common thing police officers do.
Illegal Operations of motor vehicle
Reckless Operation
Reckless endangerment
Wow crashes his atv, leaves his dying wife at the scene? What a man.
One would have thought as he was obviously injured with a head injury that they would have taken him to the hospital first
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 has learned that officers with the Albuquerque Police Department arrested one of their own over the weekend. APD officer Donald Correia, 48, was arrested and booked for DWI, tampering with evidence, and negligent use of a deadly weapon, following an ATV crash that police said left his wife “badly injured.â€
He didn't seem like he was drunk. That is sad about his wife.
Why was he not charged with leaving the scene of an accident
My Peeps…….. Head Injury = Hospital; Not "Patient Refusal" followed by interrogation.
Why does someone with an obvious severe head injury get to decide not to accept medical care?
The decision-making organ is in question 😅
THOSE NEIGHBORS SAVED THAT LADYS LIFE BY DOING CPR…
HE DID NOT CHANGE CLOTHES.WOW...BUT NO CHARGES FOR INJURING HIS WIFE?
HE IS REQUIRING STITCHES THAT IS NON NEGOTIABLE HEAD INJURY PTS DO NOT GET TO THROW THEIR OPINIONS OR SUGGESTIONS IN THE RING.
YOU DONT TRY TO REASON WITH A HEAD WOUND TRAUMA HE IS CLEARLY NOT THINKING CLEARLY HE HAS A HEAD INJURY …ALSO DEAD PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE A SEIZURE AFTER THEY ARE ALREADY DEAD. ALSO HE HAD NOT IN FACT CHANGED HIS CLOTHING.
Since witnesses claimed his wife was driving why was he charged with dui
If he was of color he would have been arrested a long time ago this has to stop glad she was ok
So much for comradery
Holy shit, THE WIFE SURVIVED.
Imagine being interrogated with a head injury everyone caring about a “gun†but not worrying about the well being
If he had such a bad head injury like yall are claiming that still doesn't explain why he would leave his wife… he could still see her and that she was in bad shape AND he wouldn't have known how to get home! He went home for a reason and because he was coherent enough to know exactly what happened and what he was doing. He was worried about himself. He also could have and should have called for help…whether that be once he got home or by flagging someone down on the side of the road or at a house nearby..How much you wanna bet HE was the one driving, and convinced his wife to go along with what he told the ems and police. That would explain him fleeing the scene and taking the atv home and knowing where home was still and changing his clothes so the witnesses clothing description wouldn't match. Maybe to also make it seem like his wife was alone in the accident?
He said “you guys can smoke me. I couldn’t ask for anything better actually. I want out†that makes no sense. He’s talking about Suicide by cop there.
Poor performance by cops and EMS.
The witness really shouldn’t have admitted to flipping the ATV for the guy. The cops may use it against him later.
Off duty cop or Nicolas Cage???
With a headwound like that and being unconses he must have a concussion and if he drank alcohol that ads to his confusion too… he is on high adrenalinlevel from the accident etc… l do not understand why they do not just take him to hospital abd keep arguing so lobg with him… many other people are medicaliy cleared before going to jail with hardly a scratsch on them….
His serious head injury means that he cannot be held responsible for anything he's saying. Having had head injuries and concussions, I know that is absolutely the case. Someone hit my vehicle, nearly cutting it in half, and nearly killing me. Everything was a mess around me, I was injured and stuck in the driver's seat, I kept insisting that I had to get to work, and all I complained about is that the pop-out drink holder wouldnt close, and it would make my husband mad. I dont remember any of it.
He was about to loose it, when confronted, denying he's done wrong. But when one officer brought up the smell of alcohol, this guy looked relieved!
As if he was hiding something bigger, and was relieved the cops are only onto him for alcohol.
They should have looked more into why he changed clothing, why he was so heartless regarding his wife.
Seriously, did he do something to his wife?
Get that boy some nice jail issue flip flops.
Anyone know what happened with the brisket? 😂
"He's old" probably in his late 40's. WTH?
This same cop would have arrested someone yesturday for less. He deserves every thing coming. he should be flipping burgers at McDonalds!
Imagine what would have happened to us peasants in this same situation.
Sounds like my dad who’s a doctor fell on the ice hard and says “I am fine†such a stupid thing
The wife didn't die but will be affected by this accident for the rest of her life. I hope they have both recovered from this situation. ðŸ™
Head injuries are too easily dismissed instead of investigated and assumed
If SHE was the one driving like a banshee then I’m having a hard time feeling sympathy for her because she put the lives of others in serious danger.
This is a very sad situation truth. Be told at the end if you really watch the video and soak everything in. This man is completely honest with all of his co-workers. He tells them he was not driving during the time of the accident. He did take the 4 Wheeler and leave with it. I believe that is all that he did wrong in my opinion. Other than leaving your wife at the scene. I was really curious about the backpack until right at the end of the video. When the guy says when he realizes he's going to be under arrest. He had already asked them to go turn off. His stove gave them permission to enter his home, which gives them permission to have access to the 4 Wheeler. And everythand he also States, Hey guys, there's a backpack right back there in the rocks. Me and my wife stashed back there if you could grab it. That would be great. I don't know why but if I was a judge watching this video and everything that's happened. I don't see how this man just doesn't have. It. Bad enough already give him a fine. Maybe a misdemeanor for driving the 4 Wheeler away from the accident. How can you take somebody's entire career and make them out? To be a bad guy over the fact that they were riding on the back of their four wheeler, probably having a great day with their wife when tragedy struck I sincerely feel so bad for this man he is well spoken honest he doesn't mislead or lie he's very clear about alot but clearly has had severe head trauma very sad and how does the cop toss a loaded gun in a paper bag like yeah one loaded gun coming up. That is worse than that man driving away
" It's not uncommon for my wife and I to have mishaps." And he's a police helicopter pilot!? 😬
Wow. The testimony call to the witnesses is not gonna help him. I still have some questions as to putting him behind the wheel. He does not want to go hospital and he does not really wanna talk to them. Wife driving , well that will be good for him, however the police wanna jail him, that’s obvious. Firearm went flying . Cop talk with them numbers . 47 =alcohol. Why not call it alcohol? Traffic investigators will get it sorted , starting with Miranda rights. So he drove it after the accident home, the eyewitness helped him upright the quad. Then he drove it. He is concussed and does not get that he drove it home 47. That is what will cost him. He ends the interview, good job but you are done now. Tri county public defender told me you don’t talk to the police , I see why. They used his words to make a case against him. The witness telling he drove . His wife is probably dead, what a shitty day and experience. He gets the news his wife is in icu. His only charge in the end, tampering with evidence.
That made no sense
It's bizarre to me that they would allow someone with such a clear head injury to be making decisions regarding his health and well-being and also that of his wife?
Cop assumed he came back because he didn't have his gun. Its far more likely he came back to check on his wife (as he asked about her repeatedly, yet didn't mention his gun at all.
â¤ï¸ðŸ––ðŸ¼
I dont get the DWI charge if he wasnt driving. Its illegal to carry a weapon if you have alcohol in your system. He also left the scene of a bodily injury accident and changed his shirt that couldve had evidence on it like meth or cocaine…
I thought people had to be cleared at a hospital before taken into custody. Dude very lucky he didn’t have a brain bleed.
