Chester, South Carolina — On Thursday, July 11, 2024 at approximately 6:32 a.m., Chester County Sheriff Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of JA Cochran Bypass and Columbia Road in Chester. The driver was identified as Eric Bernard Jones, who was found to have a suspended license. Upon being asked to exit the vehicle, Jones fled from the traffic stop, leading Deputies on a pursuit. The pursuit ended on Ashford Road due to Jones wrecking the vehicle.
Sheriff’s Deputies and K9 Sammie apprehended Jones without further incident. Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and seized the following items: -Approximately 112 Grams of a substance believed to be Fentanyl -Approximately 56 Grams of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine -$4,373 in US Currency Sheriff’s Deputies also located an assortment of pills believed to be controlled substances. Jones was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the wreck. Following medical treatment, he was transported to the Chester County Detention Center.
Sheriff’s Deputies have charged Jones with the following crimes:
-Driving Under suspension – 3rd or subsequent offense
-Failure to Stop for Blue Lights
-Trafficking in Fentanyl / 28 Grams or more
-Trafficking Methamphetamine / 28 grams or more
-Possession with Intent Distribute schedule I-III
