Xenia, Ohio — On June 30, 2024 at 7:25 a.m., Xenia-Greene Central Communications received a 911 call about a man shooting a gun in the parking lot of an apartment complex near 190 Bellbrook Avenue, and then pointing the gun at the caller. As officers 1 and 2 arrive, the suspect, 23-year-old Kyle Berry is rounding the corner of the apartments and points his gun at Xenia Police. The apartment manager in the parking lot then runs into the apartment building. As officer 3 exits his cruiser, he commands for Berry to drop his gun.
These commands were not followed by Berry and as officers 1 and 2 approach, Berry points his weapon at the officers. Shots were fired by officers and Berry was injured. A Kimber semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the scene. Berry was transported to the Hospital for medical attention and has since been released to the Greene County Jail. Bail was set at $500,000 for Kyle Eugene Berry during his Wednesday arraignment in Xenia Municipal Court for two counts of felonious assault. Berry, may face additional charges once the case is presented to a county grand jury, police said.
