On May 21, last year, the Utah Highway Patrol was involved in several intense police chases. The suspect, Richard Goulet, was caught speeding at over 100 mph on state Route 167, leading to a dangerous motorcycle chase. This was just one of the many police chases that took place as Goulet weaved through traffic, even driving in oncoming lanes during the motorcycle chase. Reaching speeds of 138 mph, the suspect narrowly avoided hitting a pedestrian after running a red light. Though police briefly lost track of him, they later identified Goulet through public tips and photos of his motorcycle chases. The long motorcycle chase came to a dramatic end when officers arrested Goulet, marking the conclusion of one of the most intense police chases of the year. He was booked into Weber County Jail for failing to stop at the command of police, as well as for traffic violations related to the motorcycle chase, which included not having a license plate of police chases.
