Idaho’s Judge John Judge granted Bryan Kohberger’s motion to move his trial out of Latah County. The defense argued that a fair and impartial jury could not be found in the same county where four University of Idaho students were found brutally murdered. The family of Kaylee Goncalves, one of the victims, called out Judge Judge in a statement about the change in venue, saying his rulings always favored the defense. They pushed and pushed until they could get it done. Everyone knows how big this case was in Latah County, this was just one way the defense could have gotten any leniency.

I do think moving the venue is a fair decision. Especially from a safety perspective, the families deserve to feel safe during the trial. I hope and don't think it will affect the verdict though, if the evidence is as strong as they claim.

The evidence against Kohlberger looks pretty bad & a change of venue should weaken the Defense’s ability to claim bias should they lose. And they most likely will lose. Having said that the evidence against O.J. Simpson suggested he would lose to say I will never really knows.
My, how times have changed……none of this applied to OJ Simpson. Those murders were just as heinous. This guy has ALL of the earmarks of a killer. He was bullied and teased as a kid. He has plenty of pentup frustration from unrequited interest in women who are out of his league. He is probably a virgin. He is socially inept. Need I say more? Frankly, I am shocked he wasn't a school shooter. And, I would be surprised if this was his first kill; whether human or animal.
The defenses case for moving was solid. They presented an excellent case and made firm points demonstrating how pressure could be put on jurors from the moscow area by family members and locals, if they figured out who was on the jury – which would be easy to idenify in a small population. Its unfair to ask that of any jurors.
41k vs 518k population. Jurors would have no anonymity in moscow.
I’m glad the judge granted the change of venue, as the defendant deserves as fair as a trial as possible.
