This fascinating documentary follows 35-year-old Dutch identical twins Lisbeth and Angelique as they wrestle with their love / hate relationship and extreme dependence on each other. Both sisters have anorexia and their struggles with food are agonising to watch. They visit anorexia and twin specialist Janet Treasure in London and at the end of the programme Angelique (the twin most badly affected by anorexia) embarks on a hospital programme. For anyone intersted in the darker side of identical twins this programme will make compelling viewing.

I watched this a year ago and somehow it’s popped up again. As I’m rewatching it , they are both actually insane … I could not even watch the whole thing because I forgot how ANNOYING and INTOLERABLE the whining and fighting voice they have is.

They go to a twin celebration as a couple of absolute wet blankets trying to tell people that they’re pathetic for dressing the same way and then go home and argue over who gets more soup…. I think they proved who’s more pathetic and it definitely wasn’t the twins trying to dress the same.
They clearly have identity issues…. Just because you look the same doesn’t make you the same person, you can find someone to love, if you want to dress the same as your twin then go do it, you don’t have to share literally everything.. they’re so ridiculous.

People keep judging them for calling twins that dress the same pathetic but… it kind of is pathetic? It’s another form of codependency and lack of individualism. Yeah the use of the word pathetic was harsh but they weren’t really wrong.
Wow I understand having an eating disorder as I have one but hating that other people are happy and calling other twins pathetic…… ridiculous. They are 35 and act like children.
Seeing this is a stark reminder of how thankful I should be to not have fallen victim to such horrible mental illnesses.

I'm also an identical twin and is not like this at all, I believe that their parents took it too seriously to make them exactly the same and created a psychological illness on them… U can always be different and have a separate life, this is exaggerated

I’m pretty sure the “boyfriend” was married, or, because disinterested after meeting Angelique. Then, faked his own illness and death to prevent seeing her any more. I think he knew that letting her down easy wouldn’t work. It’s unfair he led her on for so long.
