Rachel Pickrel-Hawkins has to report to jail in Larimer County, Colorado for the next few weekends after a judge ruled she interfered with court-ordered reunification therapy. Pickrel-Hawkins says her ex, Michael Hawkins, raped his own daughter and molested his adopted children. He currently faces multiple felony charges and is out on bond. Pickrel-Hawkins has opposed the former police officer’s efforts to gain custody of the couple’s two youngest sons. I absolutely do not like this woman interviewing this defense attorney. She’s leading every single question with the presumption of his guilt. As of now, he is innocent, but she is acting like the ticktock video from the mother in this case is evidence of wrongdoing.
We would never advocate for an abused wife to be ‘reunified’ with her abusive husband, yet expect kids to be forcefully reunified with their abusers?! Make it make sense. Why is reunification the goal with our most vulnerable??

Insanity… I know of a case just like this where a cop was arrested for serious acts of DV and SA against his wife and kids. Doctors, therapists and teachers testified about the PTSD they all suffered from due to the years of this monster's abuse. He was found guilty and sentenced to decades in prison… yet he still sued for visitation and the right to be consulted for any medical care, the right to decide if the kids could leave the state on vacations or school trips. This man was fairly wealthy, and his lawyer's issued child support every month, so he also sued to have the right to see receipts for how the money was spent and to have a say how it was spent. This was all so he could continue controlling the family… yet, shockingly, the judge granted him every request, forcing the mother to appeal… which she did and ended up winning. When judges refuse to take in the trauma visitation would cause to the children… I believe it's bc the judge is as abusive as the husband.
