Shane and Crystal Robertson have learned their punishment after they pleaded guilty to neglecting their seven children. The children, who ranged in age from 4 to 16, were found living in squalor in a trailer with their parents in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The children were malnourished and sick as the Robertsons’ pet lizard ate salmon and enjoyed trips to see the Easter Bunny. We were poor. My Dad worked as hard as he could with a limited education to support us. Don’t even ask me what our Mom did. I’m still working on myself okay. Dad used to say that even if a person or family was poor, soap and water went a long way to keeping yourself clean. That there was NO excuse for a filthy house. Even if the houses we lived in weren’t pretty, we scrubbed floor, bathroom, cleaned windows, etc, etc.

I think what's most shocking to me, visually, it's nit the mess, it's not the lack of food. It's the child's drawing on the wall next to the squalor. Just horrible
