Even just looking at White San Diegoans, 1 in 5 traffic stops involving searches seems crazy to me. There's no way that many people are actually all that suspicious when all they've done is a traffic violation. So almost 1 in 3 stops for black drivers is absolutely bonkers. I think I would personally just have gotten out of the car, making my objections to everything clear, then take them to court later. But I also haven't ever been in this situation, much less multiple times a year. I'm not surprised he was so fed up that he'd just let them escalate to breaking his window and impounding his car.

I live in San Diego, North County. About 90% of my neighbors are white. However, I've been pulled over numerous times and received a ticket twice. I'm very careful not to even come close to the speed limit. So, this policeman ticketed me for diving to close to the car ahead of me after stopping at a stop light, only moving maybe 10 yards after the light. Also, after the officer had been following behind me for 2 miles.

But, this is the main thing I've learned, when the cops want to get you, they will. So, instead of getting arrested, the car impounded and window broken. Just let them arrest you, then you sue them. Even if you're in the right, they will still arrest you. Fighting back will be a charge and prob the only charge that will stick. My sense is that at night, the disparity is not as stark. This is clearly racial profiling and the "so called" law enforcement had zero probable cause. I have been pulled over a lot. But one time, I was driving home. And decided to take the longway home ( me and the wife were arguing ) instead of taking the quick express way to get home. The longway took me through my old neighborhood, which is not the best in the city. I was pulled over for a headlight out. And this was about 4-430am. The cop gives me the speech about guns, knives, bombs and drugs. I say no. He says if you let me search the vehicle. I won't give you a ticket. I said ok. He then says get out the car ( 2000 Nissan Xtrar ) I get out. Right away he grabs me and puts me in cuffs. Then opens all the doors of my suv. He has a dog jump in the back and climb through sniffing everywhere. After no hit. He un cuffs me and they all leave. They didn't even shut any doors no explanation of anything.
How do they sleep at night acting this way just because someone is black. How can they live with themselves lying and justifying it saying that he didn’t stop long enough at a stop sign! This makes me so so angry and it is never happened to me. I don’t know how these victims get over these abuses but I’m so sorry they have to go through it. Domestic terrorism!
