I think the child reference is due to his stunted maturity, and social development. I am assuming although he was 20, he had the social, moral, emotional equivalence of a young teen. He was a young man, not a child. Had he lived, would they have tried him as adult? Of course!
I, also, believe he put a number of checks in his plan. Eg. If I go here and no one moves me then I will continue. This may have been as he was unsure of what he was doing? Subconsciously deep down he was asking for help? I also feel it was never his plan to get away with it. He knew he was going to die, that day, if he went ahead with his plan.
As to the Secret Service not liking Trump. I agree, they prob don't. But at the end of the day they chose the job and make the decision to go to work everyday. It's not a job to half @rse. Also, I believe Hollywood has effectively had the Secret Service protect their person so much more efficiently. Perhaps Gerard Butler, or Angela Bassett need to be consulted…

The parents were both certified in 2002 as counselors. How is it they could not identify red flags and get help for their son? My red flag says they sold out on a child they have abused and neglected for his whole life.
Stop saying he had a mental problem he was a smart student he graduated with high honors if he had a mental problem why didn’t parents both been counselors didn’t detected specially if he already made a thread concerning the school yet the father sells him a rifle. I heard today that the shooters parents called the police and reported their son (the shooter) missing the day of the assassination attempt. Their concern was his mental health. Does anyone know if this is true? Is it possible the father noticed the missing gun and called police farther than out of concern for his mental health? I do believe these parents will face charges down the road.

If there was nothing suspicious – why has Thomas' Father contacted Law Inforcement one hour before the Attack ? I've heard that his dad was really worried and i suspect that he probably detected that his son has taken the one rifle that he later used. I have never heard that Thomas bought the weapon from his dad and what's also weird is that there were reports that he drove a Toyota Prius, not this Van with the so called bomb inside, like some Media try to make us believe. I don't believe the story that he had some mental issues- why was this never before mentioned ? Quit giving the agents on the ground a pass and giving the seemingly obligatory oh they're heroes it is just the leadership's fault. SS details are a team and if you know there are holes in security (the holes were obvious) than you bear responsibility for not speaking up. In any operation of a military nature you have to be aware of all aspects not just your own assignment.
