  1. Again a cop escalates the situation to satisfy his own ego. He puts himself at harms way by grabbing onto a moving vehicle gets hurt and then the rider gets a felony. This is not Heroism. And you wonder why nobody admires the cops anymore.

  2. Qualified immunity has to go. We the people shouldn’t have to put up with this kind of corrupt police work. This is just another way the cowardly cops can keep from being sent to a call that could be dangerous. This is why they will drag out a safe call as long as possible. They are basically cowards and only joined the police force because they couldn’t find any other work. Not to mention the pay is usually pretty good and there are perks.

  3. Going to be honest the cops getting a c+ felt kind of low here. They followed the law and gave the dude plenty of time to make better decisions and stop on his own. The overcharging is the worst thing they did here imo and frankly, the guy probably is guilty.

  4. Dude didn’t have a light and was out at night. If he had just stopped and talked to the cop chances are he would have just gotten a warning. At most he would have gotten a ticket which then could be brought up with the prosecutor. The felony charge is excessive and unnecessary. That was strictly there because he pissed the cops off

  5. It’s possible that this type of thing is a big issue around there if if’s anything like the Madison, WI area. My daughter got a job there after college and I just visited her for the first time 2 weeks ago and I could not believe how many people bike there. There are bike lanes EVERYWHERE. Even residential neighborhoods where there is no traffic.

I’m thinking about a car hitting this guy because he wasn’t seen in time. And that sucks for a driver to be put in that position. Legally, the guy should have stopped his bike, gotten his warning, and been on his way.

At the same time…Don’t get me wrong though. I’m not saying that the guy should have been tackled!

  6. Separated shoulders hurt like all get out and can cause permanent damage (spoken from experience) though, I don't think tackling Mr. Stein was appropriate and that felony charge is kinda bogus.

  7. That crime was manufactured.

I do not care if what the officers did was legal, it was immoral and it was an abuse of power, nothing more.

Humans can only be pushed so far, and the societal contract with the cops is not being upheld by the cops.

We allow state sponsored violence voluntarily, and a society can take the responsibility for our protection back from them.

It is hubris to believe that every other civilization can fail except ours.

    History clearly proves otherwise.

  8. There are waayyyyy to many petty laws on the books. Theres no reason for all these laws that literally govern quite literally every possible thing citizens do. Why not a law tgat states you can only chew watermelon favored bubble gum on Teusdays while your at it.

  9. This reminds me, I haven't been selected for jury duty in a LONG time, at least 15 years now. I wonder if it had anything to do with me telling the judge that I would never vote to convict someone on ANY charge I feel is solely due to a cop's ego.
