Nursing Student Found Mutilated at Graveyard After Boyfriend Got Out of Jail – Everything Law and Order Blog

A 22-year-old nursing student was found dead in her boyfriend’s car at a Mississippi graveyard on July 3. Bricen Rivers, the longtime boyfriend of Lauren Johansen, was released on bond after allegedly beating Johnsen while they were on vacation together in Nashville. Johansen’s father, respected surgeon Lance Johansen, pleaded with the judge to keep Rivers locked up, stating he believed Rivers would kill her if he were released. When Rivers posted bail, Johansen went missing. When police tracked down Johansen’s car at a cemetery, Lance Johansen’s belief became a reality. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down the tragic story with criminal defense attorney Danielle Jackson.

  1. Our justice system is garbage. Blood is on that judge's hands. Brings me back to when I was in a severely domestic violence relationship. I had left and my ex had already been arrested twice for violating my restraining order. I got a call from my coworkers (I was off that day) that my ex had walked into my work the day after he got out of jail for violating the restraining order, looked around and left. I left my home because I was concerned he was going there next to find me. I called the police hysterical terrified (ex owned guns, which he didnt even need that to kill me) for my life and they told me I had to go back to my house and call them back to verify the restraining order. Dispatch said they would not send an officer until I verified the restraining order because they count not FIND the arrest in the system or the restraining order. So yes, this comes from ALL parts of the justice system.

  2. …..so possibly the judge was manipulated………I say this remembering a guy called Easton in Edinburgh who had found out the address of the judge that would adjudicate on him, Easton battered a number of Edinburgh University students, & the judge hardly had him in the court for a half an hour…..Easton told me he had waited until the judge came out his house, told the judge "I'm going to batter you if you don't acquit me!" And in fact, the famous Easton story is the judge acquitted Easton 15 more times, the police went crazy at the judge the 16th time Easton was acquitted, shouting & yelling at him in the courtroom…….that's a true Edinburgh story. Easton had been wanting me to do the same thing with him.

  3. Too bad these young girls get in serious relationships at such young ages. Instead of enjoying single life.
    But crazy is crazy…🤪
As soon as he was placed in jail. The family should have had a plan. I don't own a gun or believe in violence, but self defense. I thought everyone in the south owned a gun. Like the wild wild west 😮

  4. Please make an example out of the judge. Hold her liable and set a precedent that violent offenders should NOT be given bond or leeway.

That beautiful young girl had her whole life ahead of her, and her family did everything they could to protect her. Shame on that judge. I hope this haunts her.

  5. The failure 100% starts with the judge. Then that entire police department, actually both departments involved need to be held accountable. After that, the DISTRICT attorney's office for not holding all DISTRICTS to the same standard and rules instead of sending someone on here to say something ridiculous like, "Depends on the district." Cut the crap with this.

  6. this is a sad sad story… Should not have happened, if that judge was competent.. And also, why let these violent people free, and expect them to go get an ankle bracelet?? Seriously? But one more thing… The father of the beautiful victim? Why is he trying to cash in on his daughters murder with a gofundme? He's a surgeon!! Extremely distasteful in my opinion… That's all I have to say except I hope that beautiful soul is resting in peace. <3

  7. Spend very much time in court and you’ll realize most judges are pretty disconnected from reality.

They routinely strip the innocent of their rights, and just as often empower evildoers to continue unabated.
