Notorious child killer Andrea Yates has been in a mental hospital since she was convicted of murdering her five children over two decades ago. Yates drowned all five of her kids in her bathtub at their Houston home in 2001 when she was 37 years old. She waited for her husband to go to work before killing each child, one by one. Part of Yates’ conviction terms give her a chance to undergo a review each year. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie breaks down what happened when Yates’ competency hearing approached last month.

I feel like her husband is the main one at fault here. His insane religious beliefs put these ideas in her head. He kept getting her pregnant, even though he knew that she shouldn't have any more children. And he left her alone with those babies, knowing that she was completely off her rocker mentally. But he didn't face any legal repercussions whatsoever. I don't blame Andrea. My heart breaks for Andrea. I blame Rusty Yates.
I went to Milby High School with Andrea Yates. She was the definition of an overachiever. She wasn't just a member of all the clubs, she was the President of the clubs. Captain of the girl's swim team, etc.. Everyone was blown away when this happened. Such an unlikely person to do this type of thing.
His Mother was no better than him .
I blame rusty – relgious but and kept making her get pregnant.
I totally blame her husband.

Why does no one ever refer to the letter that she got from her spiritual advisor, that condemned her? and triggered the whole thing, why was he never brought to task.

Please excuse me, I've had post-partum depression, but at no time would I have caused harm to either one of my kids. They're in their 30s. If I were to have caused harm to anyone, it would have been myself!

Absolutely a disgrace if she ever gets to walk out free, the justice system just shows that it's ok to kill yr kids and get away with it. Sick sick evil disgusting person.
This is one of the saddest cases because it was so easily preventable.
This mom had serious problems. I blame her husband Rusty. He did nothing to help her. Nothing. Andrea knows what is best for.herself.

What amazes me is the fact she was very mentally ill after only two kids and her husband knew that, he gets her pregnant three more times!!! How is it that he is not responsible for part of this? As far as I'm concerned he is a monster! He gave her three more children to drown!!!!
