The school where a teenage gunman killed 17 of his classmates and injured 17 others is finally being demolished six years later. Tragedy struck the community of Parkland, Florida when a student armed with an AR-15 rifle opened fire on his defenseless classmates. The crime scene was preserved for a jury walkthrough during the shooter’s sentencing trial. Law&Crime’s Sierra Gillespie takes a look back at the powerful victim impact statements from the families of the victims.
The 19-year-old shooter was a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. After opening fire on students and staff, the gunman fled the school by blending in with other students running for their lives. The incident is the deadliest mass shooting at a high school in U.S. history. The gunman was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a lengthy sentencing trial.

I have so much respect for all the families for having the courage and impulse control to stand in front of that piece of garbage and speak their minds without throttling him.

They moved him outta state and gave him a new identity. Unlike other notable inmates such as Charlie Adelson who they say is in SD, they don’t even say where this inmate is. He has a new identity, has a job and lives an easy incarceration where his fellow inmates don’t know who he really is.

Not taking up for him however he didn’t just claim mental illness. He’s lived with it all his life. And there’s proof of it. My son is autistic and does stuff he doesn’t know is right or wrong. Real or fantasy. Again not taking up for him because that’s no excuse for murder but he does have proof of mental illness and the system failed him as well. So they are also at fault.
